First GT post mojo was activated, time for a two-peat and the second win in a Sox sweep of the Giants. Enough about that, it's time for:

8/20 at 10:15pm Eastern People Time, 9:15pm Midwestern Cornfield Time, 8:15pm Colorado Time, 7:15pm Hammer Time.

Game two of a three game set.

Tonight's pitching matchup:

Hat tipping Jake Peavy (1-1 5.00 ERA (9-5 4.41 ERA)

Against also hat tipping Ryan Vogelsong (2-4 6.75 ERA)

http://i.usatoday.net/sports/_photos/2011/07/26/Vogelsongs-odyssey-led-him-to-Giants-3U8UID4-x-large.jpg

Supposedly the Bogey-man gets a start. Obviously he is going to homer in every at bat. Waiver wire accordingly.

Random thought of the day: What the hell is a Vogelsong? Also, ring around the rosie, pocket full of Buster Posey.

Let's keep it winning.

Looks like Bogaerts is going to get the start at SS tonight. Which means, of course, that he'll likely be hitting in front of Peavy. Which means he will probably go 1-1 with 3 walks.

I'll be shocked if he gets a pitch to hit all night, outside of maybe when Ortiz is PH for Peavy.

Now that Ross is finally back as well, I am looking forward to seeing if this lineup can right the ship vs LHP. Ells Vic Pedey Ortiz Nap Gomes Ross WMB Bogaerts, at least on paper, is a hell of a lot better than the lineup that featured Drew and Salty vs LHP.

Also hope we have a 4-5 run lead in the 9th and we can see what Brayan Villareal has to offer. Guy pumps absolute gas, but he also is pretty wild.

Last year, though, he was outstanding for the Tigers, posting a 2.63 ERA. The more you think about it, the more you realize that dishing Iglesias for Peavy and a sub-3.00 ERA that throws 98+ was an outstanding deal

Your GT initial post was hilarious yesterday. Glad "Timmay" showed up and not Tim! Here's hoping your mojo continues and we win again tonight!

He had a Mark Melancon circa 2012 start to this season. We'll see if he can produce down the stretch.

Are you talking about my boyfriend Peavy? ;)

Ryan Dempster almost certainly to get a suspension today

Craig Calcaterra

It’s taken Major League Baseball a good while to decide on punishment — or not — for Ryan Dempster following his clearly intentional plunking of Alex Rodriguez on Sunday night. But Joel Sherman reports that it’s gonna happen today.

Again, if they don’t suspend Dempster they are declaring open season on A-Rod and are giving every pitcher who intentionally throws at a batter a solid defense against discipline. What’s more, the league would give A-Rod and his attorneys ammo for their “MLB is out to get us” talking points. The league may not like Rodriguez all that much, but suspending Dempster is the only smart play here.

Hopefully, Farrell will use the suspension as a way to move him out of the rotation.

Farrell had already talked about going with a 4 man rotation, this only serves to give him more incentive to do just that.

By the time Dempster's suspension is served, Buchholz will be back. I don't think Dempster makes another start. And if he does, it will only be 1 or 2, maybe one at the end of the year if we clinch the AL East with a couple games left.

The Sox have enough games packed together than using 4 starters won't make sense for the majority of the month. Between Doubront, Lester and Peavy, I can't make a strong case that any of those guys are more or less effective than the others

You are really getting my hopes up about Buchholz's return, but I am not seeing or hearing too much about it.

He's been getting ready for a rehab start, last I heard.

Between now and 9/1? Pete Abe recently tweeted that he suspects Buch will make his first start on 9/1. I believe he's throwing a sim game today, then a rehab start, then he's back.

If that's the case, then you go with a 4 man rotation 1-2 times through, and then Buch returns and you go back to a 5 man. You may have 1 more start for Dempster depending on the scheduling and how it all turns out with Buch and his return, but I would guess if he's back in 2 turns, they'll demote Dempster to the long man in the pen.

Last I heard he was scheduled to throw a sim game tomorrow, then head out on rehab assignment after that. Word is he'll get one, MAYBE two rehab starts and be back in the rotation.

Just wait and see what I have in store for tomorrow's game thread if they win tonight.

They said if he can go 75 pitches, they'll bring him back.

Dempster suspended for 5 games. He'll miss the Dodgers series. My best guess is a 4 man rotation, but I could also see them giving Workman a start.

Hey now the Sox have an even better chance of winning that series now. Maybe even two series in a row?!?

I'm sure we'll see Workman on the mound this weekend though.

I am guessing that Workman will get one start if the Sox see at least one start if the Sox see a pitching matchup they like. Frankly I would prefer Workman to Demps anyway at this point.

I like Workman. He has talent, but it is still very raw. Going up against the Dodgers lineup will be tough.

I read that the Red Sox were going to appeal the length of the suspension. They are asking for it to be increased to 10 games.

I heard they were asking for 35.

I heard they were asking for him to be suspended as long as A Rod gets suspended, and they both have to serve their suspensions in a remote mountain cabin together and neither one of them can leave until they learn the true meaning of friendship and forgiveness.
