Well that totally totally sucks...hate these games we could have won especially when they are in parks against teams where we are usually lost from beginning to end.

I'm a little worried about Thornton going up against so many righties, especially considering his split stats on the season. Supposedly his stuff has been a little better over the past month, and we're obviously in a pitcher's park against a decent/meh lineup, but still, with the winning runner in scoring position I might put in a righty to face a bunch of righties.

I'm not sure how many will believe me but I did post this before we lost the game.

I mean losing sucks, f*** Oakland and all, but going 5-5 on the trip was still good, we're in good shape, it was a great start from Workman, and I don't blame the game on Thornton, the refs didn't do the team any favors, and the Red Sox lineup should score more than 6 runs in a 3 game series.

That sucked. From a no no to a no win.

Alright AL All Stars.....WIN for whatever AL Team makes it to the WS!!!!

Edit: Unless the NYY make it......:D

Thornton is also about fourth on the list of Farrell screw ups in this game starting with leaving Workman in. Sometimes games like this happen where almost all of a manager's less than impressive tendencies bite him in the ass in one game. This was one of those. Does not excuse Farrell. Thornton probably should never have happened for one thing. We should have won the game and been on the way home by then!

So what the hell is Thornton going to be? Is he going to close? Is Bailey going to close. Is Ueh still the closer and if he is, why use him in the 9th inning of a tie game on the road?

The one thing Farrell got lower grades for in Toronto than running his team out of games was the way he handled the pen. Still not his best feature IMO.

Farrell gets high marks for being head and shoulders better than V....for what that's worth and there are many things Farrell does better than handle the pen. However handling the pen is a pretty big deal.

Seeing as Tex is out for the yr and ARod is hopefully banished from the game forever, I hope the NL wins the ASG and I hope the NL takes the WS this yr. It'd be f***ing wild if the Pirates won. Not because I like Pittsburgh at all (f*** the Steelers), but more the fact that a team that has been dead for 2 decades deserves a little run when my team should be out of it

Anyone have an idea who will be pitching against the Yankees?

Starter's aren't posted yet on the Boston Globe. Would think Doubront, Lackey and Lester???

Yeah, I saw they weren't posted. Just wanted to know if anyone had an idea who might be pitching. The rotation is all over the place right now. Excited I get to watch Lackey, can't say the same about Lester. Doubront is a toss up though.

If they stay in order it'll be Doubront, Dempster and Lackey.

Absolutely correct, and I knew that was the answer too, that game sticks out in my mind because it was such a brutal loss.

Crazy how we remember games like that...I think Sox fans are the champs when it comes to remembering specific games.

Just an observation: Farrell didn't have too much to say about Clay Buchholz's bullpen session other than to say he completed it. This process is not going remotely like the Sox originally thought. If he pitches before the end of the month, it will be a surprise at this point.
^ From the Globe. This is just lingering and lingering. He was on track for a career year. I'll be happy if he comes back healthy at any point this season. He has real serious durability issues.

The Sox may have gotten to the point where it is time for a little cloak and dagger as far as Buch's condition is concerned. They may decide to do something about another starter after all and it may be too close to the deadline to expect honesty regarding Buch's health.
