Max Scherzer 10-0 3.08 ERA

Making this thread now, just in case I don't wake up in time for the game. This 5 am work shift has my bed calling my name lmao. I'm not going to wave the white flag early, but this game is in favor of Detroit. Hopefully Victorino is still on fire and leads us to another high scoring game, because we could really use one. Webster only has two career major league starts so far, so don't let that ERA fool you. I believe it was the Twins that made that ERA look ugly. Here's his debut vs the Royals for some optimism http://wapc.mlb.com/play/?content_id=26486181&c_id=mlb

Lets get this win!!

Edit: I can't believe this Shrek looking guy hasn't lost a game yet. Don't let him get win number 11 please.

RED SOX (45-31)

Ellsbury CF

Victorino RF

Pedroia 2B

Ortiz DH

Carp 1B

Nava LF

Saltalamacchia C

Drew SS

Iglesias 3B

Pitching: RHP Allen Webster (0-1. 11.74).

TIGERS (40-32)

TBA

Pitching: RHP Max Scherzer (10-0, 3.08).

Game time: 7:15 p.m.

TV/Radio: FOX / WEEI.

Red Sox vs. Scherzer: Napoli 1-13, Ortiz 6-10 (2 HR), Pedroia 3-10 (2 HR), Ellsbury 3-6 (1 HR), Salty 5-9 (1 HR), Drew 1-7, Carp 1-2, Gomes 0-3, Middlebrooks 0-3, Nava 1-3, Victorino 1-3.

Tigers vs. Webster: No history.

Stat of the Day: The Sox are on a pace to score 823 runs this season. That would be 89 more than last season, more than a half a run per game.

Notes: So which Max Scherzer will be on the mound today? There's the guy who has sterling record this season and has been particularly dominant of late, going 5-0 with a 1.93 ERA in his last six starts. Or will it be the guy who is 1-3, 9,21 in six career starts against the Red Sox? Three of those starts came last season and Scherzer allowed 15 runs on 22 hits and six walks over 15 innings. ... Meanwhile the 23-year-old Webster gets the call to replace Clay Buchholz for the game. This will be his third start of the season. He was 5-1, 2.98 in 10 starts for Triple A Pawtucket. The Tigers are hitting .302/.369/.453 at home and averaging 5.48 runs, so this will be a big test for Webster. ... Iglesias has reached base in 24 consecutive games. As this marks the fourth time in five games that Will Middlebrooks is out of the lineup, it's safe to say Iglesias has won the job. ... Nava is 2 of 25 in his last seven games and 11 of 60 in his last 15 with 14 strikeouts. ... The Sox are 31-20 against righthanded starters. ... Elllsbury has hit safely in 17 of his last 20 games at 33 of 89 (.371) with 18 runs scored, 11 RBIs and 17 stolen bases.

Remember when #RedSox were focused on getting Iglesias enough at-bats to keep him in majors? Now, Farrell said, that applies to Middlebrooks

Yea, for a period of time there, it was Iggy with Sox system prospects climbing up his butt, forcing him to figure out his issues at the plate sooner rather than later. Now it is WMB that is in much the same boat. Iggy has forced Farrells hand and Farrell has no choice but to play him.

Buch misses another session on the side date today...neck stiffness still to much of an issue. That blows away a month of the season. At least for my money, Buch is officially plastered with the label....Fragile.

He has been out for such a long time now there is no telling what he will be when he does finally come back.

Don't know how many folks caught the latest in the battle between hitters showing up pitchers and pitchers showing up hitters ala' Ray's pitcher Archer and our Nava.

O's O'Day and Joey Bats are into the same sort of battle. Bats dusted off O'day and the O's with a game winning HR. Rounding third Bats was yapping at O'Day. Looked like he was saying "keep talkin" but check the scoreboard big mouth.

Man Pedroia is really slumping

I just hope Pedey has not heard the recent media comments about the lack of power and is trying to respond to them. Those opposite field extra base hits and base hits have turned into dribblers and DP's and he looks like he is trying to jerk the ball out more lately.

I wish the media and fans generally would just let Pedey alone with the power numbers BS. He gets plenty of Extra Base hits when he is going good. Can't we just be happy with that?

I f***ing hate waste pitches. 1-2 should have gone after him there. Probably going to walk him now. In fact Prince swung at ball 4
