Webster is a much better pitcher than he's shown in the past two outings. He's got some jitters to be certain, but he'll settle down.

 

He got like, what, 9 swing and misses in the first inning alone?? That's outrageous.

 

Give him a chance to settle down and get the nerves out before we say he's not ready

There is more to pitching than stuff and Webster has already proven on more than one occasion that he is just not ready to be here. Same deal.....most young pitchers are totally unprepared for seeing virtually every mistake pitch they make coming back the other way with a vengeance. He has great stuff but he is just not a ML pitcher yet.

 

The other thing I don't like about the Sox using Webster this way is that I think it is really having an impact on his confidence. Every time he leaves the mound lately he looks like he wants to put a gun to his head.

Webster got great stuff, but he looks like it will take 1-2 year for him to find it.

They block out like every game w a start time from 1:35 to 7:05 and all Fox Saturday games, even if its not on your Fox channel.

I'm telling you, those first inning jitters killed him. Along with two well placed grounders. Regardless, when he's settled down, he's a very good pitcher

It's got a ton of break, and it's really hard to lay off. Plus he can pound the fastball like he did against Peralta

Has any team the Sox have faced this year looked as bad in the field as the Tigers? When Jackson is missing from Center they are really pitiful.

Webster has such a great change. He need to get ahead to use it more effectively.

He is getting ahead. Tigers are notoriously aggressive as hitters but they are swinging at far too many first pitches...most of them balls that would have had the hitter up in the count. Even though the Tigers already have 5 runs, if the had just been less aggressive they probably would have had him out of the game by now. They would have forced Webster to his FB which they are pounding.

Webster will be on a plane tomorrow morning to meet up with the Pawtucket team.

Good learning experience for Webster. Nieves was smart to get him out early with a positive experience. No reason to believe he won't be in the rotation surely by 2015 and maybe next year.
