Jackso Talk Sox User Guide

1. Log on to Talk Sox when the Red Sox are losing.

2. Make a bombastic prediction about how the Yankees are better than the Red Sox.

3. Pretend to be moving when the prediction blows up in your face.

4. Repeat.

1. I logged on since the sox blew another save and we were talking about Paps.

2. I made said prediction when Youk, Granderson, and Teixeira all came back. That prediction wont be made again unless we are somewhere near you guys and all our players come back healthy

3. I am moving. It's called packing. When you move from one large house into an enormous one, you need to pack up your s*** and move. It takes weeks. And before that, you must haggle the sale of your home and the purchase of another. This is no act. I don't actually move for another week, but much packing still needs to be done

It looks like Myles Smith backed out of the deal.

when 5th rounder RHP Myles Smith backed out of deal, Bosox might run at 13th rounder Jordan Sheffield of Tullahoma(Tenn) HS, whose uncle is

These new age fans are so sensitive.

It has nothing to do with sensitivity, more about correcting inaccuracies

Inaccuracies like the Red Sox offense being inflated by BABIP, the Red Sox peaking in April and being a .500 team by the All-Star Break, the Yankees injured players coming back from injuries and immediately turning the team in to world beaters, or Ball not signing for under slot?

You're the king of inaccuracies. No one actually cares if/when you're moving, learn to take a joke.

that's how it was when I moved in college

When I moved to my financial planning job in NH I showed up to my work with my car still packed for my apartment. I was living like a hobo out of a suitcase for a while. Didn't get cable/internet for about 2 weeks.

So Myles looks like he's either posturing or not signing at all. Whenever you drop the "not acting in good faith" line, it doesn't bode well to business discussions continuing

It's looking like Sheffield isn't going to sign either which makes me nervous. I knew Boldt and Burkamper weren't likely to sign from the start, but I figured we'd need to get Sheffield in order for me to consider this a great draft. Still, with Ball, Denney, Stankiewicz and company I feel like it's a good draft, but I'm still disappointed that we weren't able to sign some of the others. We do have plenty of money left so perhaps we can sign Myles Smith, Nick Longhi, Derik Beauprez, Mark Nowaczewski or Nick Zammarelli. I imagine we'd be able to sign at least 1-2 from that list. Still disappointed that we couldn't get Boldt or Sheffield. One of them is worth like 10 of the others. Quality over Quantity.

It looks like we got Longhi and Smith today and still have enough funds to realistically get 1-2 more guys at over slot prices. (We have about $850K to play with) The deadline is 5pm tomorrow, and while the majority of the unsigned BA ranked players said they weren't going to sign, with $850k left on the table I'd imagine we might get one more name. If not it was still a good draft class, but I'm disappointed we couldn't get Boldt or Sheffield, let alone Zammarelli, Nowaczewski, Burkamper, Thaiss, or even Beauprez. (He'd be the most likely from the group to sign imo)

Don't believe so. @bostonolson: will #redsox sign anyone else today? #mlbdraft

While I'm happy with our draft haul, I'd be disappointed with so many players unsigned and roughly $900K left to spend, especially when that is more than twice the amount of money remaining at the next highest team (2012 Yankees)

I would have thought at least one of the guys would sign for $900K-$1M, not necessarily Boldt or Sheffield, but at least Nowacewski, Beauprez, Thiass, Zammarelli, Burkamper etc.

#RedSox amateur scouting director Amiel Sawdaye says no draft signings at deadline today. Myles Smith (4th round) agreed yesterday

God damn it. I mean it's still a good haul in a bad draft but I hate to see $900K go to waste when there were a bunch of good names left. And if none of those players would sign for that money then I don't quite agree with the strategy of drafting them to begin with. You'd think they'd have pre-draft communication of "would you sign for this?" etc.

It's tough not to be disappointed but it's still one of our better draft classes.

I got the roughly $900K remaining by taking the $590K under budget and adding the 5% overage of the bonus pool. So we had plenty to spend without losing a draft pick. It was disappointing that we didn't sign anyone today, but overall I'm happy with the haul given a weak draft class. It's unfortunate that we had to have the 7th pick for this class though.
