The sox are going to be a .500 team by the ASB without reinforcements. 7-10 in their last 17 games and the pitching has finally started to revert to normal. The overall offensive numbers are pretty much where I thought they'd be. Papi, Pedroia, and Nava wont be hitting to the level that they are currently, but WMB and Ellsbury wont be hitting as terribly. It'll even out. Buchholz will hit a cold stretch as well.

He was hanging his secondary pitches as well that inning. If he is going to try to pitch up there he will need to ask Salty to borrow his catcher's gear to keep from getting killed by a liner coming back at him.

They are still looking for a #3 starter who can give them consistent quality starts like Lester and Buchholz.

They won't go far until they find one. They aren't the Yankees, who keep pulling games out of their asses.

...but the Yankees will still get lucky with their magic pixie dust that has allowed the corpses of Overbay, Wells, and Hafner so the Yankees can play way above their level and sustain it once their old core players return.

You are such a douche.

Wells may in fact think this is his last chance and might also be invigorated by the idea of turning it around as a Yankee. Overbay and Hafner lovin' that short porch in that fraud of a ML ballpark.

4 of Overbay's 7HR were hit on the road. 3 of Hafner's 8 were hit on the road. These guys aren't stacking 320 foot bloopers in the stadium. When they're hitting them, they're going out of all parks. You want to harp on the cheapy homers, harp on Gardner

Gomes: Club house leader, at a low rate of just $10M .

In his defense, that's $10M for 2 years, and despite a .190 average his 19 walks put his obp at .347.

(Numbers going into the game)

It could be worse, but yeah you'd like to see a higher average and some more power numbers, especially since we've been giving him a steady diet of lefties.

I'm surprised that my "ban Jacko from Sox gamethreads" and "ban Jacko for 24 hours after every sox loss" amendment proposals haven't gained any traction.

How in the hell did I miss those proposals?????

He's usually busy mis-diagnosing people and ruining their lives.

Guess he doesn't get enough satisfaction from that. When he has time off, he taunts us.

What comes around goes around I say.... :D

Still wearing my Yaz t-shirt and hoping for the best. Losing would be bad enough but no hit? NO f***ING WAY!!

Come on!!!

The other benefit is that if we do lose the game (hopefully not being no hit) we only have to pitch 8 innings. And Doubront is at a low enough pitch count to at least go 7. That should really help our bullpen going forward.

...which would help if Doubront could get batters out and find the strike zone.

Funny how the fans were sort of excited but Dunn knew without even looking that he had not gotten enough of that ball to do anything.
