Then why put him in at all? Pitching coaches always talk about how warming up for games is just as tough on a pitcher's arm as is actually pitching, so its not like saving him ten pitches really makes a difference.

Would have made more sense to try to save Taz and bring Mortenson. One you burn these guys out it is very difficult on them. It's early in the season and one game. I would have saved Taz and brought Mortenson if I wanted to do this one batter thing.

Then, the next batter he calls a pitch right down the middle a ball because the pitch was dropped by the catcher. The poor call helps the Red Sox, but I really am sick and tired of umpire ******** like this.
