it is pretty amazing to me that we got off to this hot start with Pedroia playing so far below par. IMO, he has been the guy that makes this team go for several years already. When he is hot, we win a lot. He has been really cold, and we are winning a lot. He will turn it around, and in the words of Ortiz, someone is going to pay.

As for this weekend, Texas is a really strong team and we have played competitively against them with the bottom of our rotation (probably the weakest aspect of our team). They have not blow our doors off. Last year, they would have pummeled us.

They may not be pummelling us, but with a combined score of 12-1 they are handling us rather easily.

If Pedey was in a hot streak, it would be a different story. They took advantage of our weak links. That's what good teams do.

Texas has always been a graveyard for the Sox, going back to the Seventies. Their record there has always been brutal. But before the Rangers got really good we also used to pound them in Fenway.

I agree. Some of our key players aren't playing to their full potential and we're still a threat on offense. Some games are going to get real ugly when everyone starts to hit.

If they all were hitting at once that would last for about 3 days. Just does not happen. Happily, our super-subs Nava and Carp have really chipped in a lotta' offense. That has really helped.

We sorta' need Ortiz to stay in the lineup so that we have that tag team in the middle of the lineup that all offensively oriented teams depend on now.

WMB just needs to grow as a hitter and establish a profile built around his most important asset, the ability to take mistake pitches up and in out of the ballpark. Not only does he rarely miss them but he very often turns them into HR's or extra base hits. May not happen during this season but I would bet he will spend the entire next off-season working on it.

Pedey needs to heal.

Not real sure where Drew is going. Maybe he just needs more AB's to get into a grove.

Salty is Salty...meaning a day off for him is a break for the fans.

Ells and Vic are terrific as table setters at the top of the lineup. Hope this back issue is not something that lingers for Vic.

Most amazing part of this whole start is that we really have not gapped anybody but the Jays and there is something going on up there that is overshadowing stats and numbers and all of that. I think they are going nowhere. Have lost two more since we left and now stand at a whopping 10-21.
