Well, the Sox look for an opening series sweep tonight against the Yankees. Wouldn't that be something?

Seriously, it went up and they won, you really don't get the whole mojo thing? There was a time if I hadn't put that up already my inbox would be filled telling me to hurry up and get it on here. I suggest sucking it up until the mojo has ended

Satanic? Voodoo has nothing to do with Satan. Have some respect for other peoples cultures and religions.

Never seen Major League?!?! That should be an automatic ban...

It's just wrong on so many levels... I'm in another country and everyone of my ball players has seen that movie...

For future reference, never admit this to anyone while watching a baseball game, you will probably get nutted

Posted
Your loss.

I think, in response to both the unfathomable decision not to watch either film and the equally unfathomable decision to insist on excluding all but one religion from our free and open message board due to a photo from those same films, I am going to pepper this entire gamethread with quotes from Major League, wherever they can be used without being nonsensical.

Do you agree that this is the best course of action, VA? Normally I am loathe to reduce my sense of humor to repeating what others have written, but this seems to be a special case.

If you haven't seen it, you can't be nutted. Because you have no...no marbles!

If you're sincere in your wanting respect for cultures and religions, you should know that bible believing followers of Jesus Christ are offended by voodoo dolls, which the bible states is absolutely affiliated with Satan.

I didn't post a picture of something that is offensive of someone elses' culture or religion. Get off me. I am not concerned whether or not you believe what I do, but don't try to tell me that I am being disrespectful of someone elses culture or religion by respectfully asking that a picture of a voodoo doll isn't posted as it is offensive to me and what I believe.

If you'd rather just be a jerk about it, giver. Class act.

I like watching it now, it's a reminder of the days when Charlie Sheen was enjoyable to watch, before he transitioned into playing a parody of himself and then cannonballed into a swimming pool filled with crazy.

Anyone who takes steroids just so that they can "play" a baseball player in a movie is clearly lacking in the sanity department.

You mentioning Christ and the Bible as the absolute truth offends what I believe in. You acting as if a still photo from a Charlie Sheen movie is an affront to what I believe in.

This is the internet. Not everyone here is a Christian. Even the ones who are are all different denominations of Christian. We have a couple Muslims, probably some Jews, maybe even a Hindu or a Buddhist, not to mention at least one atheist. As long as it is not explicit sexuality or violence, due to the presence of minors, anyone can post any picture they damn well please. You have two options here. You can scroll past the picture, ignore it after telling yourself it's a prop from a fictional entertainment program, or you can leave. This is not a Christian message board, this is a Red Sox message board. No one, not me, not Thunder, not even someone I hate with a passion and want to ban (a700, maybe?) is going to walk on eggshells afraid to offend someone's religious or political sensibilities. (Just like you're offending mine now). I could ban you for offending MY religious beliefs (or lack thereof), but I won't, because that would make me the very thing I hate more than anything else, someone who insists that all the world around them conform to their narrow definition of what is correct.

Do not reply to this post. Do not argue. This is a message board and no one here will bow down to your god or your sacred book. I've told you your ootions. Accept that this is a place to express yourself freely, or never come back again.

Voodoo dolls are universally associated with Voodoo, for incorrect reasons. Most know the concept of the voodoo doll-- a doll is made as a likeness of the intended victim and is then stuck with pics and needles to inflict pain upon the victim. It is surprising then to learn that Voodoo dolls are unheard of in the original Voodoo in Haiti, although some are used in New Orleans voodoo, mostly to amuse tourists.

The real origin of the "Voodoo doll" is the "poppet," used in European witchcraft. Apparently, the term Voodoo doll was invented by an American writer who made up a story about Voodoo after hearing that it was witchcraft. The only "dolls" used in Voodoo are ones used on Voodoo altars, which are supposed to represent loas.

Loas are intermediaries between "God" and the people. They are akin to Christian angels and/or saints, and have absolutely no "evil" roots.
