CJ Wilson wasn't all that great today. Neither was Jarrod Parker yesterday. But it just doesn't really matter. All pitchers need to do these days against the Yankees is throw the ball over the plate. The rest tends to take care of itself.

Well, they're a mess, but at least they have a ton of money coming off the books next year. Have to hope they start to take things in a new direction. It's an all too common mistake to overstate the scope of a problem, but I really do believe the Yanks model has run its course.

Yankees catch a break there, Callaspo looked safe at home.

Second replay YES showed made it look like he was out. Inconclusive either way. Also irrelevant either way. Yanks aren't coming back.

He was safe from the Angels feed I'm watching.

It will be really interesting to see what the Yankees do this offseason if they miss the playoffs. They already have $84 million committed to five players next year. And that doesn't include the ridiculous contract it will take to keep Cano.

The FA market will change now with young talents not hitting the market anytime soon.

Yankees are now just seven games over .500 and a game out of the second wild card.

Could be a lot worse. I think the Yanks pick up 5 wins following closers meltdown.

The Yankees will have to start the process of building from within if they want to stay competitive. They aren't the biggest spending team in baseball anymore and even if they were, there are less and less star players making it to free agency. Plus, they can't outspend other teams in the draft or on international free agents anymore and the penalties for going over the luxury tax threshold are more severe.

If they fall out of contention, the smart thing to do would be to trade Cano for prospects and not saddle themselves with another albatross of a contract.

My apologies for the blasphemy, but I wouldn't mind having Cano on the Sox. We'd have contracts expiring and his bat plays at multiple positions. (Obviously I wouldn't move Pedroia off of second)

I probably deserve to get destroyed for the thought, I just like his power, durability, relative youth (he's just a year older than Pedroia) his decent defense and his decent strikeout/walk ratio.

It wouldn't make sense on any level.

Huge break for the Yankees, that was an obvious case of fan interference which would mean Gardner would have to go back to second base and the run would not have scored.
