TAMPA, Fla. -- New York Yankees outfielder Curtis Granderson suffered a fractured right forearm Sunday after being hit by a pitch in his first at-bat in a spring training game and will be out until at least the first week of May.

Granderson was hit by a 2-2 pitch from J.A. Happ and left the game in obvious pain. The injury originally was announced as a bruised forearm, but Granderson was taken to a local hospital for X-rays, which revealed the fracture.

The Yankees said Granderson will be ready to return to action in 10 weeks, putting his approximate return date at May 5.

Not sure if Jacko hasn't posted this because he's crying or because it's not a Sox player. He's a Yankee so he'll be back in 10 days instead of 10 weeks and ready for opening day. He'll gain 3x more power and crush the HR record.

This is hilarious. Whenever a Red Sox player gets hurt Jacko rushes to be the first to post it.

No A-Rod, no Swisher, no Chavez, no Granderson, the Yankees better hope their pitching puts up zeroes every night. What's the bottom of their lineup look like? Youkilis, Hafner, Ichiro, Nunez, Cervelli? That looks like a spring training lineup.

And the gap gets smaller...

If a pitcher goes down or regresses, they'll be competing with us for third place.

They'll be competing with us for 4th place.

With injuries to Phil Hughes and Granderson, and a very high aged team, Yankee fans really should be getting concerned about their 2013 team. With one or two more key injuries, they could realistically be looking at 5th.

I'd like that. BTW, Youk looked to be in tremendous shape. He has really slimmed down.

 Slimming down to me doesn't mean a damn thing.
Most of the time they slim down after they have nothing left so it doesn't make a difference. We will see if Youk is over the hill. I hope the hell that he is, but if not, he will hit some balls out to that ridiculously short RF.

Warning: This is a bit of a stretch

Rivera career has been absolutely amazing, but honestly I can see a down season. He's coming back from an injury that can ruin careers. I'm not saying it's going to happen, because he's been dominant so long, but it's a possibility.

How long will Hughes be set back. He has been a slow healer in the past.

It really isn't. The majority of their team is coming off major injuries, or in a state of decline, and they're the oldest team in baseball. They've lost Ibanez, Chavez, Martin, Swisher, and Soriano to free agency, and A-rod, Granderson and Hughes to injuries. Their top prospects spent most of 2012 in single A.

That's 155 HR now that the Yanks have lost. And who knows how Granderson recovers from this injury. Best case he's back by May, but he could very well just be a shell of himself when he returns

Early reports say only a couple of weeks, but that sounds overly optimistic.

I put that in there to avoid controversy for homers/unrealistic posters. Some here would act like I hurt a family member if I mention anything bad about Rivera

Protip: posters here don't like it when you're optimistic about the Red Sox using facts. However, being pessimistic about the Yankees using facts is okay.

People have been saying that the Yanks are getting old and are going to have a down year for the past 10 years. Until it actually happens, I'm not going to hold out hope.

Since 95, they've missed the playoffs only once.

And in that year they lost their catcher, starting LFer and ace for the SEASON

Are the Yankees going to start the season with Cervelli and Romine as their catchers?
