Talk about a good trade all around. The O's get a 30HR basher who wasnt getting opportunities in Texas and the Rangers get a lock down setup man. Obviously, the O's got the better end, but both teams benefitted

Although MLB has a relatively low percentage of teams make the PS out of its leagues, it also plays the most regular season games by a wide margin....twice what NHL and NBA have for regular season games. So it stands to reason that they have to eliminate more teams over such a long regular season.

I just don't see how this makes anything better. With any luck this will continue to go badly as it has already and this will be the last we ever see of this 2 WC format.

Two of the best teams in MLB over the 162 about to be bounced out on one night in a one game play in. How does that taste Uncle Bud?

Better now than against the Yanks. He has choked his entire career against them.

Postseason 7.88ERA, 13.5H/9

That's going up after tonight.

He chokes and choked big.

Over the last 2 years the Rangers let Cliff Lee and CJ Wilson walk. They were both aces for the Rangers. They got cut trying to convert Ogando last season and Feliz this season. They suffered an injury to Lewis and it all blew up in their faces.

I agree with most of that, but I think they did try pretty hard to retain Lee.

Yea at least in the case of the Rangers, they sort of fell apart at the end. An odd time to go that cold all at once.

I think the O's will wish they had at least one more LH starter to face the Spanks in Yankee MatchBox Cars Stadium. I don't think their pitching will control the Spanks and I don't think their bats will keep up with the Spanks. Rangers even slumping going in had a better chance to against the Spanks.

I do think that either Detroit or Oakland would have a better chance to beat the Yanks than either the O's or Rangers would have. To bad they are playing each other. A's do have strong enough pitching to throttle the Skanks and Detroit could play well enough to beat them also. Although I have a hard time cheering for Oakland I would love to see Oakland's pitching just turn Spankee bats into whiff machines. Maybe would enjoy that even more than seeing the Tigers beat them.

Stoked that the O's knocked out Texas.

It is possible that they can split the games at Wankee Stadium & win 2 of the games at Camden Yards.

Before that though, looking forward to the start of the Play Off's proper getting underway, with tonight's games between the A's v Tigers & Reds v Giants.

Taz, you don't know how the games work this yr, do you? This yr only, the WC winners will play the first 2 games at home and then the final 3 at the division winner's park. This is an advantage in terms of momentum, but a decided disadvantage if they lose 1 of the first 2. All we need tomorrow is CC to take game 1, and I feel we have a decided advantage in taking the series

And jung, I think the Yankees can wipe out the A's, as we have shown we can hit their pitching. The interesting thing is the A's have proven they can hit our bullpen with 2 blown saves by Soriano and a few circus type outings from our middle relievers. I do not, in any way, shape or form want to face the Tigers in any sort of series. They have underachieved all yr to the tune of the AL Central title. They have a lights out ace in Verlander, a #2 and 3 who we never hit in Fister and Sherzer and a lineup that is deep and powerful. I am pulling for the A's hard here as I think the Tigers are the only team that can eliminate us before the WS

Another choke job from Texas, that team doesn't know how to win when it counts. Michael Young is the most overrated player, Hamilton is a loose cannon, Nathan is a turd. Good riddance.

I think the Orioles and the A's are just as capable of beating the Yankees as the Tigers are. I don't believe in that head-to-head analysis stuff very much. The Orioles and A's are the teams that have been playing the best baseball the second half.

Whichever team loses the first game in your series tomorrow is in big trouble.

Ah yes...the second half of Uncle Buds ******** 2012 post season "system". 2/3 for everybody...outstanding Uncle Bud.

All for about $44M spread over 30 teams. Nice work Bud.

You are a standout commissioner now only because the other three major pro sports commissioners have failed on a scale that defies imagination.

Not true at all. If we lose tomorrow, but win game 2, then it is a 3 game series, all played in the Bronx. There is massive pressure on the O's and Cards to win the first 2 games

Home field advantage in the baseball playoffs is not a big factor. You lost 2 of 3 in the Bronx to the Tigers last year including Game 5.

You also lost 2 of 3 in the Bronx in the 2010 ALCS. So that's twice in a row you've blown the home field thing.

I Don't think home field is that big a deal either. However if the opening home team wins two at home, then the opponent is left with no margin for error. MUST win all three games on their home turf. That is a tall order. So is winning two in a row regardless of where they are played.

If it were me, I would take Selig's screwed up deal for this year as the lower ranked team instead of 2/2/1, I start away. If I were the lower ranked team I would be happy with two at home and three on the road. If I win the first game, I really have the opponent under pressure to win the second. If not they face the scenario I presented above...must win three straight games on their home turf.

Moss at the plate with Reddick on deck...I could just scream!

Just noticed that Oakland and Detroit are also wearing caps that have that "Post Season" legend. Did not think they would take this effort to add credibility to that silly one game play-in thing this far. I have to think they will have a different logo and legend for the league championship series.

That was about as bad a pitch from Parker that I could have expected...flat...did nothing...right down main street....if any of the big boppers had been up that thing would have been in orbit.
