Buch is the only guy we have that can take us deep into games. Very nice effort tonight--- one of the very rare games that we have won while scoring less than 5 runs.

And that's 2. You're keeping up with your quota.

Your first post in yesterday's game thread:

We are going to lose to these pukes? We should be wiping the floor with this team' date=' especially without Kipnis. No pitching. [b']We need at least 5 runs to have any chance in a game.[/b]

This is a win for the Sox the way a hockey game is a win because the goalie stones the opponent.

Buch was the best player by far on the field tonight and towered over the game in total. However it took that for the Sox to eke out a 3-2 win over one of the worse teams in baseball with the worst or close to worst pitching in baseball.....a prime example for why the Sox are NOT one of the best teams in baseball and NOT something like a number 3 in the rotation and sending Aviles packing away from "going all the way" or even faking it.

This season is not some fluke just like September was not some fluke. I just don't know what it will take for some folks to figure this out if six straight months of abysmal baseball does not do it.

Can be turned around but not by nipping at the edges of the issues here. They will have to make tough choices...or stew in this quagmire for the next couple years at least.

Hard to believe a Red Sox pitcher could throw a complete game--even when sharp. The pitch count machine must have gone to sleep. They should bury it while they can.

Buchholz is the only consistent starter lately. The kid is pitching very well. He clearly can hold his alcohol better than Beckett or Lester. :)

LOL no, Clay beat the machine tonight. 104 pitches, that is a beautiful number.

He didn't get to 100 pitches until the last batter. Pitch count was rendered unnecessary.

That is one more than the number of games that the Sox have won when scoring less than 5 runs in a pretty long time. That's sad but true.

Obviously that would never happen.

But I do wonder if they would call up Iglesias and stick Aviles at 3B. That would be the most logical, IMO. At least then we get to see Iglesias at SS.

I assume WMB is headed to the DL. Sox bring up Valencia to play 3rd.

Wouldn't it make sense to put Ciriaco on third base?

A roster move has to be made. I just hope they don't play Valencia over Ciriaco.

I have never understood why they have avoided putting Aviles at 3rd. He has the arm for it. He has range going left and the ball gets there so fast that you have to deal with picking it up after it bounces off your chest often anyway....something he should be used to by now. I can only assume that despite the book on him that says he can play 3rd, that he just cannot play it at all.

I do not want to see Aviles play another game at SS.
