David Ortiz is walking gingerly -- but is walking -- out for the postgame handshake line.

I can't imagine a situation where they would let him go out for the postgame handshake if it was anything serious by any means.

Hell of a win for the Sox. Team is looking really confident in themselves the last few games. Great thing to see! Have to keep winning, always seems when I put a smile on after a few wins bad things happen. Here's hoping the Sox pick up tomorrow where they left off today!

Could catch all the game but great, great win all around. Very encouraging. Cook is a nice surprise. Pedro is unstoppable. Carl Crawford like in all days. Mi paisano Gonzalez is back.

Excellent win. Please keep rolling.

Serious damage and Ortiz would not have made it to 3rd base on that. If it is nothing more than a little strain then it might actually have a silver lining like no more running all over creation David!!!!! Been waitin' for him to do something much worse cartin' that big body around like a 20 year old.

I agree...he would not have been out for the handshake line with a bad injury.

I wouldn't be surprised if Ortiz returns this series honestly. I can see this thing feeling a bunch better tomorrow and him wanting to play, but V giving him tomorrow and Wednesday off.

Thank God. No wonder that limp looked like something higher up. A tweaked Achilles should not be as bad for a baseball player as it would be for a football player.

Especially for a DH. Not like a pitcher who has to push off, or an OF who is running around everywhere, or even a catcher who constantly has his achilles flexed.

Still might have the added benefit of slowing David down some. He is just not ever going to win games for us with his legs no matter how sporty he feels with the weight off. I would rather he be a little more cautious on the base paths.

Ortiz said he's scheduled to undergo an MRI Tuesday. Added: "This (expletive) team is cursed!"

They would still be able to tell if there was a tear or anything major just by testing the motion and pain, I would think.

I wonder if they make a roster move and call up Lavarnway to be the DH while he's gone. They need to, for sure.

Option Tazawa, call up Lavarnway.

V sounded like they already know there are no tears or anything like that and a rupture would have had him on the ground at about SS as well. So I applaud the MRI...(my God they must look at the MRI budget and make sure they are under before ordering one) but I would be pretty surprised to see them find something that keeps Ortiz out for a long time.

So the news is good then on Ortiz' date=' or should I still worry?[/quote']

News is good. No tears. No strains. Just tweaked it a bit. Out for a few games. Will almost certainly be back for the TOR series this weekend.

I actually wouldn't be surprised if he came back at about the same as Pedroia.

Well the only thing that I can think of (like I am an expert...sure) but I have seen guys hurt an Achilles and then just sort of come back to quick and then cause a more serious Achilles injury. But for DH I think they will caution David that he will want to take it easy on the base paths for awhile when he does come back....I sort of like that anyway.
