Looks like the worst we are going to get is Zambrano out of the game...maybe tied and into their bullpen. 100 pitches in 5 innings!

Man' date=' as much as I love Youk for his Jew-ness and his being one of the two guys left from 2004, Middlebrooks is awesome and should be this team's every day 3B. No doubt.[/quote']

I love youk for what he's given this team over the years and I always will but the time has come for us to cut ties and move on. Just the way it is.

What is "Jew-ness"?

I KNOW he is hurt this year; AND he is slumping. He should heal up and come back stronger.

He was hurt each of those other years too, and in fact I've heard him say in interviews that there's always a point where he's working his way through an injury. He doesn't just slump, not for 30+ games. If it's an extended slump, he's hurt, simple as that.

I'm going to miss Youk. Who would have thought Ortiz would be the last one left? I would have bet on Varitek or Wake.

I still say varitek comes on as a coach at some point.

HR or nothing hitter.

Coming into today's game, he was hitting .263, .307 OBP.

He's not a high OBP guy, and that's fine. Because he swings hard and he's strong enough to get away with it. He can have weak contact and still drive the ball out of the park.

Plus he's had as many doubles as he has homeruns.

That'd be great. He was at the game last night with his new girlfriend. He did well with her.

Of course he slumps. Remember when he was brought up his first full year?

He hit .182/.544 for the first 20 games. He wasn't hurt then. If he is hurt and its hurting his team for him to play, he should sit until he is well. Also, he could easily make the partial muscle tear a complete tear on one swing. Thats surgery time; lost for the year.

I'm about 120% sure that if he could tear his adductor muscle on one swing of the bat, then the Red Sox would not let him play. I know you think they're idiots but they're not that stupid.

And besides, you're looking at his first season in the MLB. He was what, 23?

Exactly what I've been thinking.
