If he continues to improve, I'd bet he could be a #2 pitcher in the National League by next year. But having him as a damn good #4 works for me.

Do you mean Buch or Felix? I am thinkin' Felix can make up to a 3 for the Sox and Buch can make it up to a 2 and maybe even a 1.

Gotta send Pods now, right?

Big run on third.

Wrong. Why potentially take a chance of getting the run in from 3rd? If Pods gets thrown out, you only have 2 shots to get Punto home.

That 1 run is more important than risking it for 2.

Felix. Buch's ceiling is a 1, the way he has been pitching. Plus, he's a groundball pitcher, so if he ever sees a Iggy/Middlebrooks/Pedroia/Agon defense, who knows how good he can be.

The idea is 1. If they throw through, Punto could score and 2. You avoid a GIDP

Needless to say, I prefer this result.

NESN has to mess with my buzz. That shot of Lackey and Beckett was the only depressing shot of night so far....only because I really don't need to see Mr. Getting nothin' outta' him this year Lackey's mug.

DP doesn't matter as there were no outs. Run would've scored.

LOL..I noticed that too. Those two should be required to be separated by at least one player.

People have always seen Buchholz as an ace. By people, I mean the FO. They turned down a Buchholz for Lee straight up deal back in 2009 because they thought so much of him.

And that was before he developed his splitter.

According to Buch, he picked up his splitter on his May 16th start. From that start on, he's had a 2.61 ERA. Brooks Baseball has it at around 86-88 with more arm side movement than his change.

Velocity on the left, movement on the bottom. I can't ever remember X vs Y axis. Anyway, it's from the view of the catcher, so arm side would be left side. Circles are dif pitch: Orange, Split; Red, Change; Green, Curve; Black, FA; Pink, Cut. Dan Brooks of Brooks-Baseball.net actually tweeted this to me yesterday. Pretty cool.

Looks like that's going to be a good pitch for him.

Starting the runner at first reduces the chances they can get him out. Pods has some speed. I woulda sent him.

Getting thrown out at 2nd would've been a waste.

I find it a good thing that he travels with the team. It shows he cares.

I'd rather him stay at home and fix his train wreck life.

All well and good but he can't pitch this season and I would rather he keep his mouth and his ideas about how pitchers interact with their manager and players to himself since he can't go out there and get us one out, one inning or one win this year.

Remember this is Mr. Glare at everybody and his brother, apologize for it the next and do exactly the same thing one day later. Rather catch his act again when he can actually throw a baseball.

He has been successful 80% of the time this year.

If you were looking for a big inning then no, you don't start him. I was looking for one more run to take a three run lead. A double steal would have been a good option.
