MJ is easily the best, you never needed to make a thread. Some delusional ballwashers will say it's close, or even that Kobe's better, but they're stupid.

Even someone with 0 sports knowledge knows MJ is and always will be the king. All they had to do was live in the 90s.

I just found it interesting.... And trust me I know mj is the GOAT...maybe I'll regret it later in life, but I got a tattoo on my back when I was 18 " Jordan"

23

Ehh....I like it

Bryant isn't even on most knowledgeable peoples' Top 10 lists.

Why is that? I wouldn't put Bryant in the Top 5 but I do think he belongs in the Top 10.

Bryant is top 5. No discussion. I can't stand Kobe, but he's a legend, and was impossible to stop in the prime of his career. He's about as close to Jordan as it gets, but that's just not very close. It's a huge, huge drop from 1 to 2, and tgeres about 5-10 guys you could debate for #2, but Jordan is the absolutely unquestionable #1. We should feel priviledge to have seen the man play, because I've said this a bunch of times, MJ will never be topped. He was almost too good, to the point where you almost wonder how someone could be that dominant in the most competitive era as well.

I'll stop now, but you get the idea, MJ is lightyears ahead of everyone.

Close to Jordan as it gets? No Discussion for Top 5?

Which of these players would you rank below Bryant?

Magic Johnson, Wilt Chamberlain, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Larry Bird.

If you think about it objectively, Bryant's better than all of them. Good defender, fierce competitor, takeover scorer and winner. His skillset was similar, but not as perfect, as Jordan's. He's like a watered down MJ, which is still a top 3 all time player. He's definitely the best Laker ever.

Hmm...I'll probably get killed for this, and I'm not even really saying Kobe should be ahead of this guy, But of that list - and only because of the era he played in, it'd have to be Wilt .... He was by far the most dominant of his time, but there was only 9 teams and very few 7"1 guys...

And I'm not discrediting the numbers Wilt put up, just that he was a man against boys...the other dominant big man around that time was bill Russell around 6-9?

Yeah, that's not a very good argument at all. Wilt was also faster and stronger than everyone else. What's your point? If you think Kareem, Bird or Magic are ahead of Wilt, you're cracked. Dude was the only good player on his team for many years, and he averaged around 40/20 multiple times in his prime.

Bird was a horseshit defender, Magic was a jack of all trades, master of passing and ball-handling, and Kareem was pretty much like Wilt, but less dominant.

Honestly you can make a case for any of those guys for top 5.... Larry ( his defense aside ) was a 30-9-6-2 guy while shooting .527/.414/.916 in arguably the best " era " of basketball.... I wasn't saying wilt is not a top 5 guy, just that there's an argument there because he didn't play against the toughest competition?..

If you check wilts stats around 65-66 season they dropped dramatically ( compared to the outlandish numbers he had with 9 teams in the league), which is the same time that the nba started adding more teams every yr...again, I'm not denying the greatness of the numbers he put up, just that as more talent came to the league, he came " back to earth " numbers-wise

He was getting older. Basketball is a sport where you enter the league and are in your prime by year two. He was 23 yrs old as a rookie in 59-60, and no his numbers didn't drop off dramatically. He got teammates is all that happened. Wilt beats Larry, Magic and Kareem.

Wow.

You are the biggest Jordan homer of all time. You must masturbate furiously to Space Jam, and try to paste yourself on his bald head. You are a f***ing faggot.

Guy had to send me a private message to say I was a " Jordan homer" ?? Is it even possible to be a Jordan homer? Seeing as to be a "homer" per say, I would have to be arguing some negatives that are factual and putting a positive spin on them?.... And I'm pretty sure no one has said anything negative about Jordan and I clearly haven't been arguing in Jordan's favor ( there's no need to, anyone that downplays Jordan's place in history in an idiot )

He's just probably trying to troll you. I've been more Jordan friendly than you, and I got no PM. You're just playing into what he wants you to do by posting it here.

And you should forward that to a moderator, if you can take a screenshot, do it. That's pretty hateful, and pathetic that someone's creativity is down so low that they resort to calling people "f***ing faggot".

Okay so the paperclip doesnt show up on my PM reply options. So you'll have to host the image and then paste the link in between the image tags. [/img]

Seriously' date=' that PM was a little over-the-top for a reaction to this particular discussion. It reminds me of that time I ended an argument in a bar about beer preference by detonating a hand grenade.[/quote']
