Horrible call by the home plate ump and the crew chief VA. Aviles foul tipped strike 3 into the catchers mitt with two outs. The home plate ump was in the process of calling Aviles out and Aviles asked him to ask 1st base (crew chief) for help. 1st base said the ball hit the ground before hitting the mitt. Avlies stays up...then gets on...driving in a run in the process....and that is followed by a double. So instead of being back in the dugout, with no damage by the time it was all done, the Sox had scored multiple runs and Leyland went wild.

Thanks jung! Sorry I missed that. Sure it will be on the highlights.

To make the point VA if the score stays like this you can easily make the case that JH owes today's ump crew a set of headphones and a boat ride:D:D

Damn. I hope Pedroia isn't hurt bad.

He didn't really look in pain, did he? It appeared to be precautionary to me... worst case scenario 15 day, but definitely nothing serious.

15 days will be scary :(

He looked like he was in some pain in the dugout, but he was able to squeeze his hand into a fist. Not sure if that matters but I would assume that if he was seriously hurt he wouldn't be able to do that.

For anyone that has an iPad or an iPhone, you can get a free 5 day trial of the MLB at bat app right now. Except they keep letting you re-up with the free trial for another 5 days after it expires. So, virtually unlimited free trials as it stands right now.

Doubront seems allergic to the 7th inning...

It's like he hits a wall when he gets the far. I hope he can learn to work past that problem.

Rewatched that play by Pedroia. Looks like it was probably just a little jam. But jams can hurt like a bitch initially. Either way, I'd be surprised if he missed any time other than maybe tomorrow.

Geez has Fielder possibly gained weight? Somehow looks even bigger than at the start of the season.

Damn, he is closing in on 100 pitches in the 6th again. I thought he was going to further today.

That is one of the downsides to setting guys up for K's all the time. Would be nice to see Felix get a few more ground outs. As it is, toss up 6-7 K's, a few full counts and there ya' are.

but always have 100 pitches in 5-6 innings.

You can't expect ace innings from your #4/5 starter, especially a virtual rookie. Can't complain about the job that Doubront has done. He has been our best SP this season, and it looks like he's got top of the rotation stuff.

I've seen him pitch in person a few times and the movement on his ball caught my eye.

He also throws a fast 92-93. By that, I mean the ball gets on the hitter quickly. You can really tell by how late the swings are on his fastball, from both sides of the plate.
