Now that is a good point 700. Nava as opposed to Abreu is kinda' humorous.

They are clearly grabbing at straws. In part that is why I don't think the things we have been talking about are all that radical. If the Sox are going to look at two weeks of Nava down on the farm and take a crap shoot on that, why does any of the other stuff we have been tossing about look so radical.

WMB is not going to get a single pitch to swing at.
Nava can make some contact, and he might actually get some hits if he is in a hot streak, but he is not a solution until Ellsbury and Crawford return. Benny the Boob had other low cost options that were much better than this bush leaguer.

Maybe they passed on Abreu because they bought into the idea that they have enough offense which I have never thought to be true this year. They just can't score enough to overcome the combination of starting pitching woes, defensive woes and bull pen blow ups.

The bull pen blow ups seem to have made their way off the edge of the cliff and I am beginning to wonder if that would be as much of a concern if V would just be a bit smarter about how and when he uses the pen and who he brings out of the pen.

More times than not when one of his bull pen moves works I tend to think to myself "wow we dodged a bullet there" and when they fail I tend to think to myself "well that makes sense". I rarely if ever find myself saying "good move V".

Hmmm, this is really a rerun of 2010. In a few months I'll have a Kalish boner again.

A700, Fred said he was taking a month off. Should be back within a week or so.

That's really thinking ahead.

No question...hard to figure...I even thought that maybe they knew something about Abreu that was not common knowledge or something cause I could not explain to myself why they would not take a shot for league minn. considering how much of a mess they have been in.

I thought that by this point you knew that I am crazy. If Fred was here ranting, it would save me the trouble. I am really getting disgusted. When does this team actually hit bottom? The Yankee game turned out not to be the bottom. We got a momentary bounce from that game, but now we are skimming the bottom again and finding new ways to sink to lower depths. Fred, I am dying to read your first post when you come back. It should be a doozie.

Cherington: Hey Theo, Gimme an outfield option here. You know that in all those years that I was getting you your latte's and having the gorilla suit cleaned that I never paid attention to this baseball thingy. Gimme a guy that will score alot of touchdown..uh..point thingy's.

Theo: Marlon Byrd.

Cherington: Didn't you sign him as a pitcher a few years ago?

Theo: No that was Paul Byrd.

Cherington: Oh, okay and I took your advise on Nava, I wouldn't want to even look for Abreu's agent. Okay thanks again bro-cephus.

Question of the day: Who is going to lose us the game tonight?

I don't even look at our standings anymore. What are we now, 12-18? We need to go on a real run. Sweeping this series would be a huge start, but with the way things are going you never know what to expect. Play smart baseball today and hope for the best.

It was one of the bad changes made at Fenway-- having the standings on the manual scoreboard. On Saturday, it gave me a sinking feeling to see the Sox at the bottom.

I am sure that is rough. Unfortunately I live in Fort Myers, so I do not get to see many home games at Fenway. I guess in this case it favors me. I just hope sometime in the near future we can move from the top to the bottom. We have several games left. There is some hope there, but things are not looking so good right now.

My money is on lackey.... Idk how he's gonna do it, but if anyone , not playing in a gm, can cost us a win-it'd be him...... God I hate lackey, almost as much as I hate diareha on a "gassy" day
