4 scoreless innings and a save for D-Lowe in his Yankee debut vs. the Rangers.

What else would you expect?

(The same D-Lowe who said he'd love to return to the Red Sox before the Yankees moved on him.)

The same DLowe who, in his last 12 appearances for Cleveland, made Aaron Cook look like Cy Young. Just to refresh everyone's memory, the reason Lowe was released is because he was pitching like the worst pitcher in the world, putting up this line over those last 12 games:

12 g, 60.1 ip, 91 h, 63 r, 59 er, 27 bb, 26 k, 8.80 era, 1.96 whip, 3.8 k/9

I mean, that is hideous. There is a reason why the Guardians cut him and why the Red Sox didn't pick him up.

And yet, does it really surprise anyone that he started off pitching well for the frickin' Yankees?

I cannot for the life of me figure out Pods especially now that I think dlowe would have just fallen into their laps and they did not take him.

On the one hand I guess I can rationalize that they would not have played Kalish every day here under any circumstances, cashed out on the season or not...they would have platooned him at best...whereas I think he is playing every single day in Pawtucket. That is the only way I can figure Pods.

I am thinking they thought it best for Kalish to play every day in Pawtucket as opposed to being platooned here. I really don't know about that either. If he could play most days here, would it not do him more good at this point to get as much exposure to the ML club as possible? They have to be thinking he is going to be here for sure next season right from the start of the season....I think??????

Finding any plan or logic in this FO's personnel moves is a challenge indeed. :dunno:

Yes, that same DLowe who never threw hard, but had that groundball inducing sinker and a pretty good slider. Yes, he's a shadow of himself, but our pitching is a horror show. If nothing else, he would have been a fresh arm for a period to spell the strained pen.

All I wanted out of Dlowe is another arm for the pen. When you see V struggling every day to find a way to stretch the starters and keep the bull pen silent, you have got to know another arm there right now would have helped.

We have already seen a couple games in this last stretch where the starter exited early and nobody coming in could get a soul out. Do we really like the way those games look?

The Dodgers had Punto lead off last night. For that little stratagem they got what they deserved. Punto went 0 for 4 with 2 K's and they got shut out.

They took on $260 million in payroll and they had Punto leadoff. Wow, that doesn't add up. I hope they enjoy the costly slow-footed singles hitting first baseman that they got from us.

I assume you mean the one that is great for about the first 5 innings of a game but has been disappearing late and close just like he had here. That 1st baseman?

Yes, that's the one.

Yea well it's not my fault that it's taken a little too seriously

Yea asking a question about the Sox in the sox forum - who knew it was wrong

Can anyone answer my question ? Any sox fans ?

Rizzo hit HR #10 to left center. I think half of his HR went other way, so he's a great fit at Fenway.

Also Reddick hit #27 last night.

Kelly debut last Tuesday, 6IP 3H 2BB 4K 0R (W), also pick up his first major league hit.

So we lose these prospects and our return has done little.

You never know with prospects what the final product is going to be. Unfortunately, three holes that the Sox have right now (1B, LF, and a starting P) could have been filled by these three prospects that got traded away. Rizzo, Reddick, and Kelly all would look good now in Sox uniforms. At the time though most people wanted A-Gon and Bailey and were happy to get them.

I'm sure many wish they could have that A-Gon trade back now.

Oh yeah, that'd be a re-do.

I guess all of this is a sobering lesson in how not to build a team.

The Sox are a big market team and utilize their prospects to help acquire big-time talent (see: Armas+Pavano for Pedro; Rizzo+Kelly+Fuentes for Gonzalez, etc.). I don't even remember who all these guys were traded for, but here's a pretty impressive list of former Sox prospects and how they're doing this year:

Brandon Moss (28): 181 ab, 15 hr, 34 rbi, .254/.322/.552/.874, 138 ops+

Josh Reddick (25): 489 ab, 28 hr, 73 rbi, .262/.327/.505/.832, 128 ops+

David Murphy (30): 350 ab, 11 hr, 50 rbi, .314/.392/.491/.883, 130 ops+

Anthony Rizzo (23): 223 ab, 10 hr, 31 rbi, .287/.333/.457/.791, 113 ops+

Hanley Ramirez (28): 338 ab, 22 hr, 82 rbi, .254/.326/.451/.777, 110 ops+

Justin Masterson (27): 10-12, 4.91 era, 1.46 whip, 79 era+

Anibal Sanchez (28): 7-11, 4.24 era, 1.35 whip, 96 era+

Jed Lowrie (28): 285 ab, 14 hr, 36 rbi, .253/.343/.456/.799, 116 ops+

That's just a quick list of the guys off the top of my head. I wouldn't mind having most of those guys back, although, to be fair, moving Hanley did result in a WS title, thanks in very large part to Josh Beckett and Mike Lowell, who they got back in that deal.

Who are some other guys they've traded away?

And the teams that we traded these guys to still suck with the exception of the A's and the Pirates. We traded Sanchez to the Marlins who still suck. Brandon Moss got traded to the Pirates in 2008 and they sucked until this season. The rest of the teams that we traded with-- the Guardians, Padres and Astros still suck.

Bronson Arroyo is in his 7th season for the Reds. He's one of the most durable starters in baseball, averaging about 210 innings per season with Cincy.

Newsflash: The Red Sox suck too. Over the last 163 games, Boston has like the 4th or 5th worst record in baseball.

But more to the point: What does any of what you said have to do with the list of former Red Sox prospects that are doing well in the majors?

He wasn't a former Red Sox prospect. He played his first three seasons with the Pirates from 2000-2002. I was trying to think of young prospects the Sox traded away, not simply a list of former Red Sox players.
