Don't make the mistake of thinking CC is Ells...he is not, at his best...we are just paying him like he is.

I disagree. Add all the offensive players you want and we are still not a powerhouse until we have good pitching to go along with it. Good pitching will still shut us down.

That's why I said "An offensive powerhouse" not "A powerhouse"

You don't have to bang out homeruns to be a powerhouse. If Crawford hits like he did in TB, or even close to it, he's an all star caliber player, and is extremely beneficial to an offense.

Try not to make the mistake of thinking that 1 year in Boston trumps 8 years in Tampa.

That's not luck. That's just a poor defensive team. If Mark Reynolds makes an error or strikes out, it's not luck, he's just a poor defensive player.

Luck is when you hit a ball up the middle and it gets deflected to an infielder. It's when you hit a ball 110 mph through the box on a line and the pitcher throws his glove up and it somehow gets caught. It's when you flare one when you get jammed and fooled but it stays fair and skips into a triple. That's luck.

Well, I don't think the Sox have had a load of piss poor luck either. They have just played a whole lot of piss poor baseball.

Did you guys here that stuff from Eck just now? Apparently Beckett knew before he went out for that last inning when his back stiffened that he was already starting to hurt and did not tell anybody....that sorta' sucks. At least say something and give the coaches a chance to make a decision.

That's fair if that's how you feel, I disagree, but I'm fine with disagreeing about that.

I'd love to see Lester shine. Hell, I'd love to be confident in Lester bringing his A game.

Honestly... 6.2 IP, 4+ era, 2 BB, 6 Ks

Against Baltimore coming off his last outing?

I'm close so far.

Well that is sure as hell true. I just don't think we really know what we have in CC because there are so many issues with him that seem to be between his ears....never mind with the bat in his hands or in the field. I would love to be able to say...he will be OK...he will be fine....but I would also like to see even a month of decent baseball from him before even starting to be comfortable with that.

Wow.

BobbyV says DiceK ready after 2 more starts. His next start is scheduled for Monday. Which would put his following start around Friday, and he could be in Boston by Wednesday, 5/16.

C'mon Sox...good time to lump up on this guy. The RH hitters seem to be eating him alive. Has to be hiding the ball to the LH hitters cause no way he just blows Ortiz away like that.

6 innings from our top 3 against the like of Baltimore is just not good enough with the like of our bullpen. Our top 3 are very good pitcher, but not one of them is a horse. Horse go deep into games and give you 200+ innings year in and year out. We don't have any guy like that.

Oh s***...we got this guy now.

Ya know what...to bad they sent Iggy down...why not try Aviles in the outfield instead of having to endure these d-mac plate appearances.

I think this time off is a blessing in disguise.

Think about it. The first part of the season, when the team historically struggles, and the only stats and standings you see are the current ones rather than the cumulative ones like you'll see in August, thats the time where the team is under insane scrutiny in every single move of every single game. It calms down a lot by June, July, August time frame when you go 2-6 on a road trip but you look up at the standings and you're still 54-46, not 3-10.

Thats what Crawford is missing this year, which is a very good thing for him coming off of last season.

Also - Think about the times in your own life when you've struggled with something. Then you had a chance to get away from it, think about it a little bit, get more comfortable with it and understand what happened. You can make the adjustments needed to be better. Whereas when you're in the middle of it, you kind of "can't see the forest for the trees" because you're too close.

Getting away from the team, figuring things out, I think that's going to pay massive dividends this year.

6 innings is not going to be good enough this season, not with our pen. We don't have Bard and Papelbon to lock down the 7th, 8th and 9th innings of close games.

121 pitches and 5 days of rest should not limit him to 6 innings and 99 pitches the next time out.

Now that is what I mean by bad baseball. Agons had no business throwing that ball to third...luck had nothing to do with that.
