Really? I kind of like Bert.

There's a reason why it took so long for him to get in the HOF... guy thinks he's the best at everything he does and constantly talks about himself when he does the games. Half the time he doesn't even know the correct names of opposing players... mixes them up all the time and says s*** that would make John Madden sound like Vin Scully in his prime

V might be trying to give Youk some encouragement and also see if he can get him going.

This is probably as good as spot as V will see to do something like this at least for the next few games.

By the end of this season we very well might see the Twins vying for the basement. They are in the bottom half of the bottom half of teams in the AL. So this might be a good spot to try to give Youk some encouragement. We should win this game tonight without to much difficulty and sweep the Twins.

I'll be feeling much better about tonight if Shoppach is behind the plate again.

Pitching staff's numbers this year by catcher:

Salty 88 IP 7.36 ERA .942 OPS against

Shopp 54 IP 4.50 ERA .687 OPS

but what about the other side of the bat 7 hits at 21 at bats for shop. with a .333 avg

as for salty he is 8 hits at 38 at bats .237 average

i like salty he always keeps the ball in front of him he just needs to work on the pick off play.

Aslong as he keeps papi in the #5 spot, I'm happy..... Imagine the fallout if he moves papi to cleanup, then he goes 4-30 afterwards

Youk was moved when Sweeney got plugged. V thought we were facing a LHP. Turns out he's a righty. Hence why we have Sweeney and Salty and not Mac and Shop House.

Not sure if this appeared on a different thread. Big loss for the Yankees:

By Wallace Matthews | ESPNNewYork.com

ARLINGTON, Texas -- New York Yankees pitcher Michael Pineda will undergo surgery on Tuesday to repair a labrum tear in his right shoulder and is lost for the season.

The surgery is an arthroscopic procedure and will be performed at the Hospital for Special Surgery in Manhattan by New York Mets team physician Dr. David Altchek at the request of Pineda and his agent, Fern Cuza.

According to Yankees team doctor Chris Ahmad, who will assist in the surgery, the recovery for such an injury is 12 months from the date of the surgery barring any setbacks in rehab, meaning Pineda will not be available until May 2013 at the earliest.
