Lester 65 Pitches through 4... Here comes a 6 inning outting

Idk about that.... Take away bautistas ab's = 15 pitches....and 1 or 2 other guys that worked the count on him.... I think he'll be alright

Ahhhheeemm *clears throat*

No catcher, no SS, no RF....this is what happens when you go cheap.

Aheeeeeeemmmmm.

Who exactly was our RF (.652 OPS in 2011), SS, and C last year? Oh, those 112 games from Scutaro? You're trying to tell me this offense would be great if we had Scutaro? He is the difference maker??

Hes only had 18 AB's and hes only played over 120 games once in his career.

Im not insulting you if he think he is, I was just asking. Im not so sure he is a starting OF. Him and Ross are spare OF's IMO.

Admittedly, I don't know much about Sweeney, but if he can hit .300 and play decent defense while staying healthy ( might be asking alot ) but I'll be happy, given our RF situation the last few yrs

So should the barometer for whether the Sox have good players in RF, SS and C always be a comparison to the crew that was part of the worst September collapse in baseball history?

No but the barometer of a good offense should be compared to that of last year, when they had those players at C, SS, and RF.

Any chance the sox make a play on hanram if Miami is faltering around mid-season?

Trade Youk, Lars and a pitcher for HanRam... Bring up Middlebrooks and Lavarnway.

New Lineup

Ellsbury

Pedroia

Gonzo

Ramirez-Move to outfield

Ortiz

Middlebrooks

Crawford

Lavarnway

IGGY

Scutaro was better than the career backup infielders we have playing SS now. Salty sucks, and hes going to suck this year much more than last year....well because he sucks....and werent you a JD Drew guy?

What does JD Drew have to do with anything? Just because I thought he got a bad wrap doesn't mean he was good last year. He was awful. Our entire RF was awful. And we still had the best offense in baseball. Your argument makes zero sense.

its just one of things that gets brought up in rumors every year......and ive always thought that hanley would end up in a sox uniform.....how many ss's have we had since nomar?? 12-13? i'm glad we passed on reyes, but we need an everyday guy there

Except they are struggling offensively right now, besides that....which is my argument, yeah it makes no sense.

We were weak at those positions last year, and we are weak at those spots again. The issues were never addressed. You can't count on the other 6 guys to have career years every year to lift the offense. Ortiz and Ellsbury will probably probably experience drop-offs from last year. Who will pick up that slack? Not Ross, Salty/Shoppach and Aviles.

i agree with you, but crawford should help some with the offense this year, gonzo's power numbers should be up this year, if we believe his lack of hr's was due to his shoulder issues......theres some "slack" picked up , i think

Funny how everyone is on youks case' date=' but ellsbury is 3-22 in a more critical spot in the lineup lol[/quote']

No one is exactly tearing it up out there. But Youkilis is looking totally lost.
