It's a combo of luck and bad location. Bard hasnt walked anyone, but the 0-2 pitch to Lind was inexcuseable.

1 bad location, about 12 eight hoppers through the infield. It's almost entirely luck.

True Bard grooved that 0-2 pitch. That plagued him in ST as well. It is like his management of the game from the mound is just not there. Lacks concentration in some cases. However Salty is just no help at all. This is a matter of the battery having to do a better job of managing the game, not just the pitcher.

The Jays are sitting on Bard's fastball. It looks to me that McClure isn't happy over Bard's pitch selection. He has thrown only one changeup to this point of the game.

The rap on Shoppach around the league is that he calls too many fast balls. I don't think BV wants Shoppach catching Bard at this point. Just a hunch. Bard's got to develop confidence in a third pitch if he expects to last as a starter.

Remy is right about Bard needing to throw more off speed mixed in. Said that right from the first inning. The hits they are getting is off FB in bad locations. Granted they are balls being beaten into the ground but they are hit hard enough to get through the infield. So they are getting wood on the ball.

Yeah. They were comparing him to Doubront. No one expected either of them to be in the starting rotation but they had a good ST and won their slot.

 

Some hits would be nice fella's jeez!
