Catcher,SS, Center field are the classic up the middle plus defensive positions

Catcher...see last play at home...see any throw Salty makes

SS, Aviles is Mr Hands of Stone with limited range...showed both in Detroit

Center, Ells has a weak arm as does the entire outfield frankly. Ells showed the weak arm in Detroit as well

Pedey is great second baseman but second is not included in the classic up the middle plus defender positions

This is the very first time I've seen 2B excluded from the middle of the field. How very convenient.

Ellsbury does not possess a strong arm, but his range is exceptional, enough so to make up for his arm.

I don't disagree that Aviles and Saltalamacchia leave something to be desired. I'd prefer they started the year with Iglesias, an exceptional defender, and Lavarnway, equally bad on defense but possibly an exceptional hitter. However, I think you are painting a bleaker picture than what actually exists, both through creative editing of what constitutes "up the middle" and selection bias in evaluating Ellsbury. It's ok, a lot of people have their pet issues they like to harp on, so I don't expect this exchange to change anything. I'm positive we'll get nightly reminders from you on everything they did wrong.

Wrong again...Remy just said he got tagged on his back..meaning that Salty's swipe tag at the front of Rasmus jersey missed him but that Salty did get him on the back. By then Rasmus hand was already in.

Doesnt matter....

safe or out, all he had to do was block the plate.

Dude. I watched it happen. He clearly tagged his shoulder. It wasn't even close. Go back and watch it yourself. Watch the play live. He got his shoulder easy.

In other news: Chick threw a drink at a dude, who then called her a ****, who's boyfriend then proceeded to assault his face multiple times. Most interesting thing to happen here all game.

I will have to watch the play again. Still does not absolve Salty from blocking the plate which would have been an automatic out. Expecting the ump to bail you out of plays like that is like arguing about the phantom tag at second base..."but his foot missed the bag" tell it to somebody who cares. The ump doesn't.

Yeah, how dare we hold them to accountability of making the right call.
