Nope Brennan, just 2 in the loss column. Phil Hughes is having a frickin resurgence. After his last start where he was knocked around, I was interested to see how he'd respond, and boy did he ever. CG with 8K's??!?! Over his last 6 starts, his line has been solid. 40IP 39H 16ER 9BB 34K 1.20WHIP 3.60ERA even with the ass whoopin he received in Anaheim. He is currently slotting in as our #4 with Nova as our #5. Kuroda also pitched very well yesterday. The pitching is rounding into shape. Now if only we could hit maybe .260 with RISP, we'd be fine

Andy Pettitte has been an ace in his return. 7 shutout innings, should have only been 1 hit, and 10 more K's. 2.78ERA, 1.01WHIP, 32K in 35.2IP and he has gone at least 6.1IP in all 5 starts with 4 of them going 7 or longer. Just a breath of fresh air. He found a slider while he was out and ditched the cutter and it is dominating. The cutter used to be mid 80s, now he is throwing a slider around 80 with much more bite. It is dominating lefties and he is using it in on righties setting them up for the fastball away. Any aspiring pitcher needs to watch him pitch to see what it really means to be a pitcher

And now the Yankees are tied in the L column for the AL East lead. It's no coincidence that our pitching is starting to come together and we have started winning. Now, all we need to do is see if Nova can build off his recent appearances and actually put up a QS. I would much rather see Nova as the sinkerballer going deep into games vs the guy K'ing 10, lasting 5IP and seeing 4 runs score

CC layed an egg tonight, although he kept us in the game somewhat and gave us depth. The 5th inning was inexcuseable. I am sorry, you have your 4 and 5 hitters up with the bags packed and not being able to make contact is abysmal. ARod worked Price, I'll give him that, but the K right there effectively ended the game

Nova was dominant again tonight. My guess is he is done. 7IP 5H 0ER 1BB 6K. Just toying with the Braves. He dictated the pace, controlled all his pitches and made a pretty good team look completely overmatched. This was the Yankees 10th consecutive Quality Start. Pretty frickin awesome right there

The QS streak was snapped, but CC kept them in the game on a night when he didnt have his best stuff. Our offense roared back against their pen and we took another one. Go for the sweep tonight with Kuroda vs Hudson, should be a good matchup. This team is rollin!

He's been on a little run of mediocrity in June, allowing 10ER in 21IP, but he has given them 7 innings per start in all 3 starts. When he catches his stride again, he will dominate. I bet he wins 20 again.

No doubt about it. At least even when he's struggling, he's still keeping us in the games and giving us innings. A true ace in every sense of the word.

Also, it's been a while since I've been here, but it's nice to still see some of the 'old guard' of us Yankee fans still posting here.

Kuroda pitched a la CC the night before. Gritty veteran who didnt have his best stuff but navigated through a good team's lineup to limit damage. Also, Cody Eppley is turning into a useful reliever. He isnt dominant, he doesnt even have great location, but his sinker has allowed him to have a 2.5GO/AO and has kept the ball from being lifted in the air. I think he is settling in as a good middle innings guy who, once our pen settles in, will likely become a RH specialist to tag team with Rapada who is the lefty specialist

The Yankees are on their best run since 1998. The Red Sox are not going to catch them. The Sox have talent but the team is poorly constructed. I don't think they have the ability to go on a sustained run any time soon. The end of July will be too late to kick things into gear. Maybe they can make a run at the second wild card and get a 1 game elimination playoff game. That's about the best they can expect.

The Yankees are doing what they need to do--- putting distance between them and the Red Sox. If we are more than 10 games out when all of our guys are back, their return will have been rendered irrelevant.

Yeah, this team is doing it the right way, with pitching. We still cannot hit at all with RISP, but a lot of our hitters are in scoring position when they are in the batters box. Nova has finally remembered that pitching to contact is what made him so good. Some of the hacks from the Nats were so weak, getting them to bounce out on the first pitch. He did get a little lucky with some line drives, but overall, he had the Nats tied in knots
