Hiroki Kuroda looks great right now. He's one poorly played flyball from having a shutout right now. He has an ump who is giving an extra 3 or 4 inches off the outside corner and he is hitting it routinely

I hope Girardi looks at today's start and sees why Hughes MUST be in the pen. Through 2 innings, he has been throwing 94mph and breaking off a filthy curve. Davis took him deep, but so be it. In inning #3, he gives up a 2 run bomb and the FB is 90-91. He no longer has the endurance to run the mid 90s up there every 5 days. But I bet he could throw mid 90s 2-3 times a week in single inning appearances. He needs to see this before we lose to more s***** teams based on his performance alone

Innings 3 and 4, he couldnt seem to keep the ball out of the dead red zone. Innings 1-2 and 5-6 he has been good. Velo is back up as well into the mid 90s. Hughes as a starter isnt dead just yet

Hughes is K'ing the league right now and avoiding the walk. His peripherals are good. He just leaves the ball up in the zone way too much. He also runs his pitch count way too high. 100 pitches in 5.2IP is unacceptable, especially vs the O's.

5.2IP 6 baserunners, only 2 walks and 6K's. But 2 more bombs and a 2 run deficit. He needs to build off this start. He's still on probation for me

2 unearned runs due to Nunez' inexperienced play in LF. We need to call someone up. Sounds like Swish is off through the end of the week and Gardner wont be activated until Monday

People wonder why I say we're gonna get a hitter at the deadline and not a pitcher. We have ridiculous pitching depth coming even with Garcia deepthroating a mule cock and Pineda going down with fat boy shoulder. But our offensive depth in the high minors is lacking to say the least and we need a guy who can hit. Our DH spot will rotate until the deadline, but our offense is old and prone to lapses in production, especially if injuries pile up (see Swisher and Gardner now). I have a feeling we make a big splash on the offensive end. Maybe a guy like Hafner should he continue to hit well

When it rains it pours. the year of the DL continues as Mo was just carted off the field after hurting his right knee shagging fly balls.

Hughes got back on track yesterday. Never should have been out there for the 7th inning, but so be it. Last 2 starts, the line has been good...

12.1IP 10H 7ER 13K 2BB- WHIP under 1 in those 2 games, with an ERA of 5.12. The peripherals are starting to trend upward. We might be turning a corner...

Looks like Robertson not only inherited Rivera's job, but his strike zone too. He just got gifted 3 strike calls to end the game with the bases juiced vs Pena.

He missed a couple in the AB vs Zobrist. Regardless, he got the job done. I think the butterflies were there tonight. He should shut it down in the future

No, the pitches to Zobrist called balls were all balls, even further outside than the 3 gifts he got against Pena.
