I don't know if there is a topic about JetBlue Park already. I currently live in Fort Myers, so I see the stadium quite often. It is amazing how fast the stadium is coming together. I am excited about the Red Sox playing here in 2012.

I know that there are probably a lot of people excited about the new stadium. I did have some questions though.

Is there anyone planning on making the trip to Fort Myers this year for some Spring Training games?

Do you know what dugout the Red Sox will be using at JetBlue? Is it going to be like at Fenway where they use the 1B side dugout? I am assuming so, but I have not yet purchased tickets because I have to ask off of work. I would love to get tickets right behind the dugout. If anyone can let me know, that would be greatly appreciated. Tickets are going fast and I am probably going to have to purchase tickets off of Stub Hub right behind the dugout for a $125 a piece.

At City of Palms Park, as you know, the Sox used the 3rd base dugout, probably because it got the most shade. Whichever side of the field will get the most shade at JetBlue Park will be the side the Sox will take. That's my guess.

Go to redsox.com, click on the Spring Training or Jet Blue link, you can see a seating chart, Red Sox dug out is down the 3rd base line, you can also see what if any tickets are available (mostly Standing Room Only) for the dates I was looking at.

I'm thinking about going. One time I got tickets by going up to the box office after the last game I was attending and some one had turned their tickets in and was able to get some for a future date my brother was going to be in town. Since you live there I would try to box office too. But the ST tickets were on sale at the City of Palms park box office since Jet Blue isn't open yet.

Good luck.

You can also purchase overpriced tickets on Stub Hub. It might not be ideal for how much they are, but I really want to get decent seats for one game. They have a lot of good seats left on Stub Hub.

Thank you for all the help everyone!

Husband and I are going to Fort Myers for the month...after five years on the Wait List, we got seasons tickets for spring training this year....we will be in Section 215 as first year holders and have four seats just beyond first base.

I am hoping someone in Florida can get the schematics for the park and parking before we go down....haven't seen anything but the Populous and JMI renderings. It looks like there will be two roads into the park instead of the one we saw last year when it was being built?

Does anyone know how much parking will be once you get there? We bought two extra seats for the very first game against Northeastern hust in case we didn't get seasons tickets in Section 109 above the dugout on the third base side...two seats for $62.00 if anyone is interested in them. We won't have them until the first week in February.

Hope if the Fort Myers paper puts any new info in, someone will include it on this forum.

Thanks for any updates!

I will let you know if I find out anything. I am going to be at some games I believe, I might even be volunteering at some games as well. I go to college at FGCU which is a few miles from the stadium. I live in Fort Myers permanently. If you need any information on places to eat or stuff to do, just let me know. Any information I find I will post here.

I think some will. I'll keep you posted when I find updates!

The new ballpark looks good. I try to pass it whenever I can. I got a new job working at the airport as a cook, so I get to see it all the time. I can't wait to go to some games. Also, if anyone is flying in from Boston to Fort Myers (or anywhere to Fort Myers) and you guys fly into concourse D, try to stop into Casa Bacardi. I am a cook there and the food there is really good. You could always ask a server if I am cooking, my name is Nick. I would be more than happy to cook for fellow Red Sox fans.

Directv has a regional sports package where you get NESN. I think it is $10 a month. That should get you some spring games. It will not get you regular season games on NESN. For that you will need the MLB Extra Innings package.

i have Brighthouse cable.... i'm not sure how large of a cable company they are outside of the Tamp Fl area. But i pay about $140 a season to get the baseball package every year. it's not too bad. i have the option to get just NESN, but they don't broadcast the games live. it will cut out. i was just wondering if they broadcasted the ST games if you purchased the package earlier. i think MLB channel airs some games too.

NESN should not cut out for spring games as they are not blacked out under the tv contracts. During the season, NESN will give you the pre and post game shows that the baseball package will not.

GLOBE mentons today that Lester and Dice K are already in camp along with some lesser name pitchers. Lester looks good and sounds positive although he is barred from having much media contact until the "official" event on the 19th

GLOBE did remind us that Lester was among the first "players who addressed" the beer/chicken situation last year.

Hill rehab continues with bullpen session

Globe Staff February 9, 2012 02:50 PM

By Nick Cafardo, Globe Staff

FORT MYERS, Fla. — One of the most encouraging signs for Red Sox fans today was watching lefty specialist Rich Hill throw a bullpen session for the second time since his Tommy John surgery.

Hill blew out his elbow on June 1 last season and had Tommy John surgery on June 9. He had allowed no earned runs over nine games (and 8 innings) for the Red Sox, who seemingly had found their lefty specialist after a lengthy search.

"Everything is going according to schedule," Hill said. "There's a long way to go still. Right now, I'm throwing three-quarters sidearm. Prior to this I'd been throwing straight over the top. So we'll see as we progress what the team wants me to do."

Hill was superb throwing from down under, a delivery that was deadly on lefties. He said that he's still a month away from throwing a breaking pitch, but while the process has been long, it has been fruitful thus far.

Hill could be ready by June.

In other Sox news:

• Jon Lester has been working hard, even working on agility drills with some of the pitchers in camp. Lester declined a full interview per order of the Red Sox who want him speaking when pitchers and catchers officially report on Feb. 19.

While it appears Lester is showing leadership and setting an example by being in camp so early, he said that he prefers to show up early so he can work at his own pace for a while and then get into the more structured workload once everyone is in camp, and he is leaving the beer cooler in his trunk for tailgating after the games.

Lester looked to be in very good condition and said he's communicated often with new pitching coach Bob McClure as as well as Bobby Valentine.

• Veteran righty Aaron Cook also showed up for his first day of activity and worked out and also did some agility drills. He did some wind sprints with Sox old-timer Oil Can Boy and he appeared to strain his right foot trying to keep up with Oil Can. It was a minor tweak, but he appeared to have a cardiac event after Boyd offered him some blow. Cook is under observation at Lee County Hospital

• Carlos Silva was spotted at an all you can eat buffet near the ballpark and he seemed to be in great spirits. Vincent Padilla looked to be in great shape as he argued with the Sox Parking Lot attendant. They had to be separated by Security but no charges were filed.

• Oil Can Boyd did not back down on his words that he used cocaine two-thirds of the time when he pitched in the majors for 10 years. "I tell the truth," Boyd said. "I did it and I'm not afraid to say it."

• Word is that Daisuke Matsuzaka, who was not at the complex today is also throwing well and on target for a mid-season return.

Red Sox early arrivals get some work in

Globe Staff February 10, 2012 10:21 AM

By Peter Abraham, Globe Staff

FORT MYERS, Fla. — Greetings from Field 2 at the beautiful new Red Sox complex.

There are fields, batting cages and bullpens everywhere you look along with newly planted sod and palm trees.

There are 15 players or so on the field stretching before a workout. The group includes Jon Lester, Daisuke Matsuzaka (who has sort of orange hair), Andrew Miller, Rich Hill, Nate Spears, and Tim Wakefield who was seen around the complex wearing a hoodie and sunglasses.

Lester threw in the bullpen for the second time since he arrived. I wasn't standing behind the plate, but from the side his stuff looked pretty crisp for this time of the year. The incognito Wakefield was seen filing his nails and practicing his knuckle ball grip. He looks to be in great shape and his beard looked freshly dyed.

There are fantasy camp games going on around the complex. Today is the final day for the camp.

I'd like to see the Globe get a bit more positive about the Sox, now that Spring Training is around the corner. I don't know what Boyd using coke 30 years ago has got to do with anything. Ancient history.

And Beckett on the Millar show sounded OK to me. Beckett is the last guy you want to point fingers at.

He came out of spring training in shape, unlike a few others, and had a pretty good season. The killer was Buchholz, and all the failed efforts to replace him.

I finally have all of my tickets to Spring Training. I am going 3/3 to see the Red Sox take on Northeastern University in the opening game at JetBlue. I am going the Miami game on 3/12 and I am going to the Twins game on 3/16. I spent $600 on 6 tickets to three games. Next year I am waiting in line to buy tickets cheaper. I must say I am happy with my seats. I got tickets right behind the dugout in one game, right behind home plate, and in left field. I am excited about this Spring.
