Tigers needed to have this game to have the slightest of hope. Now they will most likely get swept by the Rangers.

I think that's a bit of a stretch this early in a 7 games series. Don't you think?

They got maybe Fister and no one else. The Rangers won't even need good pitching. The bats will do the talking.

I dont think its a stretch at all.

I do. They also have Scherzer.

Rain delay....UGH!

I'm not saying it will inevitably happen. Just that it might.

Fister and Scherzer are alright pitchers. Nothing less, nothing more.

They're no Halladay or Verndander who pitch gems game in and game out. Fister is spotty, he can go on a streak or he can just suck on any particular night.

3-2 Anything can happen in the play offs Scherzer didn't give up a hit until the 6th in his last outting against the NYY.

Just stop with the premature prediction crap.

The weather does suck quite a bit.

There's nothing wrong with making predictions. They were making them on the pre-game. AJ went with the Tigers and Eric Karros went with the Rangers.

I wanted Texas to win last year, and I do this year as well. I really like this team, and I was saying to my friend that I think regardless of who makes the ALCS will lose to the Rangers. I actually think this will go 7 games still, or at least hope it will. I just don't see very many teams that have what it takes to beat the Rangers in 7 games or less, that lineup is just a force, capable of running wild on any pitcher.

I think in the entire playoffs, the Brewers have the best chance to beat the Rangers now that the Phillies have been eliminated, but of course I didn't think any team would realistically be able to beat the Phillies, and the Cards pulled it off. That's the beauty of the playoffs, anything can happen, and you should expect the unexpected.

LOL@ you.

I'll make whatever prediction I want, thank you very much.

These two teams made some great trading deadline acquisitions:

Tigers: Delmon Young and Doug Fister

Rangers: Mike Adams, Koji Uehara, and Michael Gonzalez

That's what you do to try to put your team over the top.

I called it after game 2 the Cards could knock out the Phills and sure enough they did.

These Philly "Dream Teams" don't live up to expectations, first the Phillies and now the Eagles are in pretty bad shape.

Well the Phillies should have won it, they were never in bad shape, they just fell victim to the playoffs crap shoot. It really is exactly that, because the powerhouse teams rarely win it, and its fairly common to see the underdog win it.

It's not like basketball, in basketball, the best team almost always will come out on top in 7 games. The Bulls never blew it, the Lakers and Celtics were always giving each other fits, but they always made it far, they never didn't make the playoffs unexpectedly, or get bounced out in an upset. In basketball, there has never been a 16 seed to defeat a 1 seed in the NCAAs.

Playoff baseball is just different. A scrappy team that barely made it in can give the powerhouse a run for their money every year, that's what we saw with the Cards here, and when they won it in 2006.

There is nothing wrong with making predictions prior to a series but reactionary predictions during a game are annoying.

They are the same.

Predictions are predictions. There is no such thing as "reactionary prediction."

You reacted to Verlander's not pitching well during the early part of game one. If he had been pitching well, would you have predicted the Tigers getting swept? You reacted and then predicted.

No, I said that the Tigers needed to win game 1 to have a chance in this series. And that if they loss game one they might get swept.

That's not even a prediction. That's a guess.

Fister had a 2.83 ERA (4th in AL), a 1.06 WHIP (6th in AL), a 3.02 FIP (5th in AL), 139 ERA+ (7th in AL), walked only 1.5 hitter per 9 IP (4th in AL), had a 3.95 K/BB ratio (5th in AL), and had a 5.6 WAR (6th in AL). All the stats I listed are equal or better than CJ Wilson, Texas best pitcher, but he's "alright" If he played on the Yankees he'd have 20+ wins and people would be drooling how good he is. He is not spotty. You have no idea what you are talking about.

I am very sad that Verlander couldn't come through and that the Tigers lost the first game. That is all I am going to say at this point. :(:thumbdown

Ohhh you pulled those nice neat stats.

Heres a stat you forgot..wins, losses.

All that matters and all people look for is for the win/loss collum.

Not to mention that regular season and playoffs are set apart and it doesn't matter one lick what you did on the regular season.

Won/Loss is a terrible stat considering Fister had the worst run support in the AL when he played in Seattle. Since you brought it up, he's 8-1 since coming to Detroit.
