I'll hold up on the rant until I actually see what Lowrie does. It might work out but regardless he has no business being in the number 4 spot. I hope that HR he hit didn't fool Francona because he still hasn't produced much. However' date=' if he goes 0-4 and leaves runners stranded I think he should get some s*** for it. I'm honestly shocked about this but we'll have to wait and see what happens. If it turns out good then I really can't complain so I'll wait it out.[/quote']

God I wish everyone would. This thread is already a nightmare and a headache.

I guess we should all just not post until the games over then, huh? Because I guess it's pretty stupid to have an opinion on a move that looks like a blatantly bad idea and has a small chance of working out. If it does work out then fine, but for now it looks stupid and it is until we're proven wrong.

I didn't say that BFEF. Don't give me s*** for expressing my opinion. We are all pissed off.

I'm not pissed off. In a pretty good mood, except for the fact that I'm at the dentist. I've made peace with this season.

Now all bandwagon fans that decided to become fans because of 04 and Sweet Caroline: get off my lawn, it's freshly mowed.

Either I'm taking it the wrong way, or you did exactly that to us by saying "this thread is already a nightmare and a headache"

And, You said you wish everyone would hold up on the rant until we see how he does. That comes across as trying to tell us we should shut up until it's over.

Whatever though, not a big deal

If the Sox miss the the playoffs' date=' it will probably surpass the Yanks all-time choke in 2004 simply because it unraveled over a longer period of time and, with most pundits claiming it could never happen. Red Sox Nation will demand someones head for this legendary embarrassment with this $$$$ roster. Who else but the manager can you hold responsible for a roster that pretty much gave up on the season by mid-August.[/quote']

The sox will become the biggest chokers of all time, again. First of all, they came in as the best team in baseball on paper. Everyone thought they were the better team, unlike 2004 with NY. And on Sept 1, the sox had an amazing 9 game lead on the Rays for a playoff spot. In 1978, the sox were up a handful of games. In 1995, the Angels were up 6.5 games. The Mets were up 3 in 2007. That 9 game cushion will be the biggest lead ever blown entirely in September, with a team expected to contend with the '27 Yankees for dominance. It would entirely reshape and restructure the rivalry, which was reshaped and restructured in 2004 when the sox choked out the yankees.

Talking head Holly from WEEI spent the afternoon defending Theo. Frankly I have yet to find a sport that Holly knows anything about. As soon as Holly's defense of Theo started falling apart he wanted to talk about Cashman's free agent signings. I hate it when people use that sort of argument. I don't give a rats ass what Cashman did. Cashman has nothing to do with this Sox mess and last I looked the Sox were looking up at the Yanks.

Lowrie in the 4 hole.....thats imaginative Tito....good luck. I guess we are trying to win the AL pint sized clean up hitter award.

That doesn't nearly do the Mets collapse justice. What's more telling is that they were up 7 games with 17 to play. Considering the number of games left on the schedule, that might be worse than this one. And, in my opinion, the 1964 Phillies are at the top of the list ... 6.5 games up with 12 to play.

God I love your posts

If only we had pitched Pedro Curt Bruce Luis Aceves in every game this Sept we'd be setting the rotation for October and they'd be polishing the Cy Young Award for him

I'm not saying they should have thrown Aceves on Sept 1st. But when it was late Sept, and we were throwing Weiland against the Rays? Or when it was late Sept, and we were throwing Wake against the Yankees??

Those are horrid decisions. Especially when Salty can't catch Wakefield.

The Sox had never come close to the worst regular season choke, and the record for the biggest post season choke goes to the 2004 Yankees-- and that record can only be tied never broken.

Theo f***ed up by not acquiring a starting pitcher for the month of September.

I can't lie. I'm not going to be devastated if I can walk up to the ticket counter and buy good tickets to a game on a Friday night next year.

Obviously that means the end of the sell out streak. But lets be honest. Quality over quantity.

Best thing that could happen to the Sox is an end to the perennial sell out streak. It is about time they started to get dinged for piss poor performance.

I've got a really strange sense of confidence about tonight's game. I think we're going to win this game, and the Rays are going to lose.

Hopefully it's not just optimism, and it's actually a premonition.

I would prefer it go the whole nine if only because not only are we playing badly but we can't catch a break either. With our luck the game will get to five innings, with the O's scoring one more run than the Sox as a downpour starts.
