Anyone know what are the rules for a 1-1 doubleheader thread? Does that mean example1 should post this thread, or is it open? Man, I wish there was a sticky for times like these

I think someone else should probably make it. I made it for the first game mostly and lost, also I'm going to be missing the game tomorrow because I'm working late.

The rules are there's no such thing as a doubleheader thread. It's a game thread, not a games thread. Two games, two threads. Unless, of course, VA says otherwise.:D

Wow I'm impressed Sox actually pulled this off.

I went to bed around 10ish cause of work. <_>

This makes it possible for the Red Sox to lose one and win two and they will be in.

Rays cannot even lose a game if they are to overtake the Sox at this point.

Sox cannot let this Orioles team to do what they did at Fenway. It will be totally unnaceptable.

A sweep is in order. LETS GO!!

Starts tonight. Win and we control our destiny. Time for Beckett to pitch like there's no tomorrow.

ending the season with beckett, bedard and lester. win and we're in mentality. pitching needs to be the flint that spearks this team into the post season! momentum is what we need right now. go out and get back to back wins! i'll be doing my utmost to send bad joo-joo to the rays here in tampa!

Nice Major League reference...

Need more than bad joo-joo though. A tidal wave or some other natural disaster that takes out both the Yanks and Rays at the same time would be outstanding.

Only thing is having the roof colapse on them. :D

But saddly it doesn't snow over there and nor is it the season for it yet so we're stuck with them. lol

I keep hearing that the attendance is always down because of where the Stadium, if you can even call it that is.

Its inconvinient for people to travel to and from. Or so that's the excuse I keep hearing.

Imo that stadium should be close down for life. It is a joke.

Florida is oversaturated. There are 2-3 teams from every sports league, plus you have spring training, several famous NCAA teams, the 5th most prestiguous tennis event in the world, oppressive summers, and the demographics are against you. I've been questioning the decisions to put so many teams down there for years.

it's not bad at all to get to the games if you really want to be there. i live in riverview, it's a place where most people live outside of tampa. the subburbs. it takes me about 45 minutes to get there. that is not bad from what i've heard to get to other stadiums. everyone here is lazy and expects stadiums to be in their backyards! Palodios is right, there is a lot of s*** going on here. but the demograph is the biggest aspect. tampa is a true melting pot of people. there really aren't too many people born and raised in the tampa area. we get a lot of transient people whomove in for jobs, or are seasonally down here, or whatever the case is. so they really don't care about the team until the excitement gets intot the air about playoffs. i invite everybody to come to the Trop one day and interview people on their team. see if they can name the starting rotation or position players. most can't. they're a fun team to watch sometimes, i've seen all these kids grow up and play since they were rookies, but the stadium is a dump. my only arguement f=FOR the stadium being a dome is the weather. if you have lived here for an extended period of time during baseball season, you know it rains in tampa EVERYDAY between 4-7. can't have an open field. it just can't happen. anyway, i'm getting off track, f*** the rays and i hope the yankees don't lay down to them like they did last thurday!

This quote from Papelbon after last night's game sums it all up I think...

"You've got to go out there and grind and shine every day. That's it. This is grinding season. Now we've got to go ball in Baltimore. If you don't like this, you ain't got blood going through your veins, right? If you don't like this -- if you're not going to play tired, you're not going to play hurt, and you're in this clubhouse, then you don't have blood going through your veins."

"Yeah, it's tough, but that's why you grind. If you want to shine, you grind. If you grind, you shine."

Just win.

Does anyone think the Yanks will help us get to the wildcard? Perhaps they rest most of their starters and let the rooks decide the Sox destiny.

i personally think the yanks will lay down to the rays... they really don't have a reason to play hard and i don't think they want us in the post season... watch them have a tie game in the ninth, get the bases loaded and walk the winning run in. just to piss us off.

I'm still surprised that the Yankees played that marathon game last night. With absolutely nothing to play for but personal stats, they played 23 innings yesterday, and may very well have singlehandedly put the fire back into the Sox.

Yeah, and besides I'm playing for a new contract.

Oks... A new streak commenced yesterday guys, all my good vibes to this team...

If we win this series, they will gain not only the WC but a lot in confidence and once stronger mentally, this team could be danger against anyone, so...WIN!

Let's go Red Sox!

hopefully we win big and beckett goes deep tonight because our bullpen needs the rest and pap wont be available

Actually that all depends on what Francona decides to do... Pap said that he would be ready to pitch tonight if need be. He's doing everything he can to get us into the postseason.

He has been used less this year than last, so he's probably feeling better than he has in years past.

I just hope MLB Network doesn't decide to show the Phillies and Atlanta game instead of teh Red Sox one.

That would piss me off so much.
