Hopefully' date=' we have insurance on this awful contract. If we do, he can cut off his hand for all I care.[/quote']

You were a huge proponent of the Sox signing Crawford. That has changed after one under-acheiving season and wrist surgery?

You of all people can NEVER complain about the Crawford deal ;)

As far as Floyd goes, I would be interested in him. Might not cost a ton. Just wait for Williams to have one of bi-polar days and the Cherrington might be able to steal him away from Chicago.

What would Floyd cost us? Could we get him for a couple minor leaguers? If we offer Youkilis, would it be possible to get a RH outfielder, a bullpen arm, and Floyd? I am not sure what the White Sox are wanting in return and I highly doubt trading Youk for him would be worth it.

Floyd won't be cheap. CWS wouldn't want a broken down Youk.

Me? I find a bunch of reclamation Harden/Webb types and see what sticks. I don't want Bard or Aceves starting.

Put WMB at 3rd and Youk in LF. Problem solved. ;)

I had no idea that the Crawford contract would cause the Sox to go into an austerity spending program where they can't even afford $8 million for 1 year for a starting pitcher. I still like Crawford, but his contract and Ortiz's arbitration are strangling us. I love Ortiz. It's not about him or Crawford.

Harden's going to cost $3 million, Webb has nothing left man, he's topping out at 85 mph you'd be better served to bring wakefield back.

I did want Crawford, but I wanted Matt Holliday the year before even more. The missed opportunity was signing Lackey and Cameron when Holliday was available. They should have signed Holliday and the following year made a strong run at Lee. That would have been my preference.

Nothing personal. I'm just shocked because of the strong interest you showed in Crawford.
Holliday was available the year before Crawford. A number of us wanted him badly. We didn't get him. The next year Crawfor was available, and yes I wanted him, because we had no LF and he was the best one available. I like Carl Crawford. When healthy and he has his head together, he is a force, but Holliday was the much better fit. I don't dislike CC now, but I hate that the Sox are in austerity mode all of a sudden. CC's contract sticks out like a sore thumb in this environment, especially if he can't play to justify it. If he is going to be a damaged Carl Crawford and not the Tampa Bay CC, I'd rather get the insurance and look for a new OF.

Rangers To Sign Yu Darvish

By Ben Nicholson-Smith [January 18 at 3:32pm CST]

The Rangers have agreed to sign Yu Darvish, tweets Jon Heyman of CBSSports.com. The sides are wrapping what's expected to be a five or six-year deal with 25 minutes remaining before today's 4pm CDT deadline. Agents Don Nomura and Arn Tellem represent the 6'5" 25-year-old.

GM Jon Daniels liked what he saw when he watched Darvish pitch in June, and the Rangers committed a record-setting amount for the right to negotiate with the right-hander. The Nippon Ham Fighters obtain a $51,703,411 posting fee from the Rangers, who topped the $51.1MM Boston paid for the rights to speak with Daisuke Matsuzaka five years ago.

Darvish posted a 1.44 ERA with 10.7 K/9 and 1.4 BB/9 in 232 innings this past season and he hasn't posted an ERA above 2.00 since 2007. He'll join a Rangers rotation that looks considerably different than it did a year ago. C.J. Wilson is gone, but Neftali Feliz will move to the rotation and Alexi Ogando, Colby Lewis, Derek Holland, Matt Harrison and Scott Feldman provide manager Ron Washington with an abundance of alternatives for the rest of the rotation.

Prince Fielder may have lost a suitor this afternoon. It's been reported that the Rangers are unlikely to sign both him and Darvish, so agent Scott Boras may turn elsewhere as he looks to find a deal for the 27-year-old free agent.

Maybe we will now sign Oswalt.

What's your point?

You were all for the signing and for Theo doing it .

And now you bitch that Theo f***ed this team up and he deserves the blame for this past season.

Cant have it both ways

This whole issue of Crawford and what appears to be another case of reluctance to order up an MRI at the end of last season makes me wonder why they canned Dr. Morgan for this idiot Gill in the first place. Was it cost...something else.

One element of this whole thing that flies in the face of reality was that they were numbing Crawford's during the season and increasingly at the end of the season. Did they think they would be numbing his wrist for the next six years of his contract without eventually running up against the need to perform some sort of procedure?

Even if you decide to treat your players like they are assets, they are the most valuable assets that you have.I don't give a damn when Crawford comes back, delaying his start to ST was and is inexcusable.

I do not mean to excuse Crawford himself in any of this either. His attitude toward a horrific season seems all to nonchalant and just about what you would expect from a guy that has his guaranteed contract, can basically thumb his nose at the world and choses to do so.

I can easily see a situation here with management asking the team to recognize that the Sox at all levels have some PR work to do in order to restore their public image and I can just as easily see about half of them telling management to take its public image and shove it where the sun don't shine.

I'm not having anything both ways. Carl Crawford is not the only problem with this team, and if he is healthy and plays well this coming season, he will not be a problem at all. Hopefully, heals well and returns to form. I blame Theo for lackey, who had arm issues before we signed him, Cameron who was an old man when he signed, Jenks who was a complete waste etc. Plus, I never really put the bad mouth on Theo for wasting money last year. I put the bad mouth on him for last year for not doing anything to patch up the pitching staff last year when it was obvious from August 1st that we were short 2-3 starters. My criticism has been well documented here.

I never blamed Theo's foolish spending for last season. I am blaming it for next season (2012) since the owners have apparently imposed an age of austerity.

We aren't getting paid to sign players based on our judgments. It's up to him to make better judgment then the fans.

But Theo did f*** up this team-royally. It will take years for us to undo the damage he brought upon the franchise. Look around-Lackey, Crawford, Jenks, the medical staff that misdiagnosed Ellsbury and failed to diagnose Crawford..and so forth. It was his JOB not to make those mistakes, not our. We are fans; we can be wrong. He can't.....but he was. He did an aweful job as GM here, yet there are those who still think he walks on water. Hard to understand.
