At this point i don't really care about the redsox even if they make the playoffs they don't deserve it and they will jus get knocked out ,Im on the tigers bandwagon

If the situation was reversed, I would have absolutely no qualms about rooting for the Red Sox. I'd have to imagine that most feel the same way, if they really want to see their team make the playoffs.

I'm man enough to say it.

If the Yankees winning is good for the Sox, GO YANKEES.

It's all about what's good for the team.

Never. I was born (not quite)when that NY carpetbagger, Harry Frazee, sold the Babe and half the Champion Sox team to the lowly Yankees in 1920. For some money to pay for his Broadway shows.

I still think it was an AL conspiracy by Ban Johnson to create a centerpiece AL team in NY to offset the NL Giants. They built that lopsided "House that Ruth Built" for the Babe (he was already a great HR hitter for Boston--not just a great pitcher) and stocked the losing Yankee team with Red Sox players. That was the beginning of their "dynasty".

It was the root of all the animosity in Boston. Ruth refused to join the Yankees. The Royal Rooters staged a protest outside Fenway. Babe joined them. The Boston newspapers went on strike for two weeks in protest. It was a big deal, folks. Read about it sometime. Ruth finally agreed to join the Yankees after they increased his salary and promised him every hooker on Broadway.

The Yankees were the first mercenary team. They were truly great in the Dimaggio-Mantle-Berra era.

But I recall they had some help from their "farm team", the KC Athletics, thanks to their backing of the owners who moved the team from Philly after winning against bidders who wanted to keep the As in Philly. Ancient history for a lot of you guys. And then there was the infamous Steinbrenner, who sucked up every free agent in sight in the late 70s when free agency started--and has continued to do so since. Pushing up the prices for everybody--to the agents and Players Union delight.

Despite what the media says (and they love NY for the TV market), the Yankees are not a well-liked team by fans outside of NY. And neither are those swaggering Jets and their bombastic coach. I hope they get knocked on their ass this year, too. The Giants are the only really classy team left in NY, thanks to the Mara family.

Of course they do. Lots of people take their yankee hatred seriously. They buy tickets to make sure the Yankees know they're the most hated and scream out "f*** the yankees" all game. It's a good thing the Marlins are a NL team because if the Yankees played out here a lot I'd probably run on the field and get some cheap shots on a couple scumbags.

EXACTLY. If the Yankees winning benefits the Sox, then f***ing Go Yankees!

You may as well root for the entire team to get struck by lightning' date=' because it would be more likely then ether of those scenario's.[/quote']

Perhaps, but my scenario takes out both teams, a lot of their fans and hopefully Michael Kay. I'm more thorough. :)

Along similar lines to a700' date=' why not just root for the stadium to collapse during the Yankees/Rays series. Seems to take care of both problems. :)[/quote']^ This is brilliant.

lol Don't forget that I nominated your post about A-rod taking the flight home as a post of the year (last year I think)

And I was one of the few that did not rip on you for your Hideki Irabu comment shortly after his death. It was certainly uncalled for, but I thought it was funny.

Who'd have thought that we'd have been bitter enemies a little over a year ago. Hmmmm.

Yeah, they say you never like the seeing your own qualities in your children. Son!!:dunno:

Dark humor is lost in this PC wuss world we live in, but I still find it very funny.

For those people who criticized me for making fun of Irabu, I still think it is funny that he could find a rope that didn't break. He must have got it from a cruise line ship. For those people who mentioned that it is part of his culture, I don"t think hanging is part of honorable Japanese culture. The whole thing was a tragedy, but we should be able to laugh even at tragedies.

You used to get into fights with everyone man.

I don't know about that, I mean I fought you once I think (which actually set up the fight with a700 that got me temp banned over a year ago)

I had 1-2 fights with a700 (as mentioned), and a few fights with Gom, Suns, Dipre, and Crespo, but in my defense, who hasn't?

And then there's a few other close calls I had with a few people that should probably remain nameless, but I think the only serious one I actually started was with a700.

And then there was the personal s***storm with a member off of the site, but that's also another long unnecessary story.

You know what? You might be right lol. But the point is, outside of one lengthy fight about LeBron (which involved a good 3-5 other members, only one of which I was arguing against) and the recent off site drama, I think all of the other arguments and disputes were well over a year ago. I think having other things to do in life (like a full time job) has mellowed me out. I've definitely come a long way since I first joined, but I came fresh off a few bans from Soxprospects (permanent) and ESPN (temporary).

Well you've been generally a lot more mellow over the last year. I think you've only had one big fight since then, and it was with J_E over that Lebron stuff. Who hasn't had a fight with J_E?
