Absolutely not. I think Lowrie has the bare minimum required skills on D to be even considered to play at SS now and again. Aviles has to be better.

Not at all, Lowrie's defense is horrid as SS, he plays better 2B. In fact his Rdrs as a SS is -3; Aviles? 13.

I feel like the default answer for most people when a SS is bad is to suggest a move to 2B. Lowrie is a really bad 2B too.
