Hi Guys

Last thursday I went to see my first ball game since the Expos in 2004.

I just loved to go see the Expos.Last week I went with my wife to see a Redsox game.

I bought tickets in the Grandstand 3rd base line section 29.

This deceived me quite a bit.

I couldn't see the park, all the signs, the scoreboard with this big roof over my head.

At least in Montreal the Olympic stadium the roof doesn't cut the view of the park

To me it was almost like missing half of the action and the pleasure of being in the park.

My question is do you get used to sitting in these places and missing out on the action going in the stadium?

I would rather be in the bleachers and see the whole park + less expensive.

Part of Fenway's charm is the little quirks like that. Some parts of the stadium give an awkward view. Old parks like Fenway were basically built with the purpose of trying to squeeze as many people in as possible back then. But if you want the best view the bleachers are the place to be. It's also the most fun section of the park I've sat in so far.

Sadly I've never been to a Sox game, let alone to Fenway. I've only been to my hometown AAA team Indianapolis Guardians of Pittsburgh.

I used to live not far from Indy. Those Guardians games were fun. Nice Stadium. Pioneer League baseball is what I get Yo watch now. The Reds low A team is the Billings Mustangs. We drive to a few of those a year. Pretty good time.

I know when I lived on Indy it was not a bad drive to see a Reds game. And that is a beautiful ball park.

Trying to make my first Sox game in September. Would appreciate any help I can get.

I see a lot of SRO tickets on Stubhub that are not on the map. Where are these? Are these good or bad seats?

Is it hard to get a taxi outside after a game? My hotel is not near the T but is good for everything else.

Thx in advance.

Fenway charm? You should have seen it in 1950 when it was called Yawkey's Yard.

You could have eaten off the infield grass. No dumb advertising signs. Spotless seats and aisles.

Of course, in those days, the only guys making any big money is baseball were named Dimaggio, Williams and Musial. Later Mays and Mantle. Big money in those days was a hundred grand.

I've been to several hundred games at Fenway. Most seats on the left field side do not provide good sight lines. Stay on the right field side and near home plate if you want to see the entire field of play. The bleachers are fun but you can't see the entire park from there either!

The best seats are the pavilion seats. You see everything and they serve Scotch and Bourbon to you. And there are no lines in the men's room.

I've been to over a hundred as well, and my seats are in the infield grandstand (section 24). They're good seats, though you have to be careful about the poles. Only a small amount of LF is obstructed from my seats, but other ones are a lot worse.

I went to Futures at Fenway today and explored some more seats. I went to the upper bleachers and was actually surprised; I thought I would hate them but they're not bad. Spud is right that you can't see all of the action, but you can see most of it and it's a nice view of the park.

Well, I never been there but seems like those will fit just fine for me. :D

Feel free not to answer if you don't want to Coco but how in the hell do you go to all these games? Like living in Maryland and having money for tickets. Holy crap man you go to a game every week lmao.

Oh I'm not in Maryland now. I go to school there, but from late May to late August I live in Boston, at least for now. My dad splits season tickets with a few of his friends.

CD and Spud are lucky. I've been to a handful of games at Fenway.

David is is very fortunate to live so close to Fenway and to have access to tickets. I went to so many games "back in the day" (the '70s). Now I usually only get to go to one or two games a year.

One thing I can say is that if anyone has the time, take the tour of Fenway. I did this with Dipre in January and it is an absolute blast. And it is only about $12.

Hey fellas. I'll be in Boston on Wednesday night for the Sox/Yanks game, but don't have tickets until the Thursday game. Is there a good bar to go to around Fenway for the game? I want to be at least around the game, figured there has to be a couple sweet bars around town.

I actually like game on!.......Its not as popular as the cask and flagon, but if you go downstairs, its a freezing cold AC....they have decent burgers, pretty good pizzas and the beer is always cold.....not to mention if you get there early, the bar/restaurant is on separated from the away teams indoor batting cages by a piece of glass and cloth....which many players (like Jeter) happily push aside to get a view of the bar.

You really can't go wrong with any of them. Personally, I usually go to Boston Beer Works because it is the only one that isn't absolutely insane during gametime.
