I'd be happy with a 5 game lead by late August when A-Rod returns. We're on pace to win over 100 games' date=' it's not like they're going to get a whole lot of chances to get back in the race.[/quote']

And they won't.

Royals just beat the Rays in extras. Rays had bases juiced with nobody out, then a 1-2 groundout, and 2 K's and they didn't score.

Rays are now down 9.5 games in the East, and 6.5 games in the WC.

I'll feel for them tomorrow night when they leave town... until then' date=' f*** them... they can lose 15 in a row[/quote']

True. Guess where they go next. That's right the Bronx. Make it 18, while we're out sweeping the Royals.

Good ,They are more of a threat then the yanks IMO

We definitely struggle against them pretty steadily' date=' they've got great pitching.[/quote']

If we struggle, how come they couldn't score for 16 innings against us?

If they've got the Skanks up next, I'd be much happier with them starting a 3 game winning streak than I would with them running the losing stretch to 18.

Me too, but what are the odds? Just saying.

Meh... losing crucial games to KC isn't a sign of strength IMO. Their offense is pretty f***ing abysmal right now.

How come we couldn't score a run for 16 innings against them? We've got a much too high octane offense to not score for 16 innings. How come we're 4-4 against them? Last year and this year, we're 11-15 against them combined. For some reason, we don't match up well against them. Whether it's because Maddon lines up his pitching for the Boston series and Francona doesn't line up his top 3 for the Rays, that may have something to do with it. Either way, though, we've got a losing record against them over the past couple years.

Yanks Pitching and Stadium in the playoffs vs the Rays Pitching and Stadium in the playoffs

It's ironic that once they dropped the Devil from their name, they became good and became the devil.

SOS!!!!! bring the King or Ubaldo or Kuroda... SP is the key now!

Agreed. I don't know how we could possible ONLY go for a left reliever. Yes, the offense is on a torrid pace right now, but in the playoffs we could use some good pitching.

Grab a solid SP now!!

because that's as easy as getting a hamburger. No one is giving up a starting pitcher for anything less than the moon. Forget it. Our best hope is that one of the younger guys, Weiland or Miller or Doubront, steps up.

If we gonna bring a long term solid SP give 'em the moon. You have to, if you want to; there isn't other way; Do we need it? Yes!. Nobody said that it was gonna be easy like getting a hamburger, but that's Theo's and FO's job, and that's what they are paid for among other. We are the 26th QS team in all baseball, unacceptable for a WS contender. I'm not asking for the top 5, but at least be in the top 10-15 in that category. We need balance; Is not like our offense always gonna give us those 10 Rs games.

I don't see it happen but if I was the GM I'd do the impossible in order to happen.
