That being said' date=' I don't agree with Jeter taking the ball from a kid who could sell it and literally buy a house with the auction winnings.[/quote']

He's still rather well for himself by not selling the ball, the tickets the Yankees gave him are valued around between 50k-75k, he also recently received a 2009 World Series ring courtesy of Mitchell Modell, CEO of Modell's Sporting Goods, who got the ring because Modell's sponsors the Yankees. Both Modell and Brandon Steiner, CEO of Steiner Sports, guaranteed Lopez at least $25,000 each toward his outstanding student loans of $150,000.

That includes Topps, which said it will produce a trading card featuring Lopez that will be included in sets later this year.

I'm sure he's also more stuff he'll be getting down the road too

You're making character judgments based on limited knowledge of his personal affairs. It sounds pretty much like what I described. Yeah maybe he should have just shown up to the ASG' date=' but it's not that big of a deal, some other guy who's more deserving will get his spot.[/quote']First off, I thought you realized that I hate everything in pinstripes, so I my opinions need to be viewed in that prism. I might root for the Yankees if they were playing team Al Qaeda, but I can't guarantee it. I think the "Jeter is a class act" stuff is phony BS put forth by people who don't know him. I'm calling BS on them. That's all. Are you saying that you believe the image? I said that he didn't have anymore class than any other player. He probably doesn't have any less either, so I am not making any judgments about him.

I also don't care if he goes to the All Star game, but his excuse was lame ass weak. If JD Drew missed any game for that reason, there would be 3 threads about it. For some one who the fans and media universally proclaim as a gamer, he was deserving of the J.D. Drew Strained Vagina Award for his excuse.

It ain't anywhere near the FMV of the ball. Plus none of it cost the Yankees anything. It's like free airline tickets for airline employees. They get them if the seats are empty, i.e no cost to the employer. There is also talk that he will be taxed on the value of these items. What a kick in the balls. The bottom line is that the selfish prick jeter didn't put his hand in his pocket for anything. Shame on him. At least pay the tax for the guy.

I'm glad you're admitting that this is purely irrational hatred. I agree that the Jeter is classy stuff is BS, because none of us know him personally (in all likelihood) and unless you do know him personally, you can't really make that judgment. My issue is with you is pretty much making the opposite judgment. All I ever did was say that he's less of a dick publicly than a lot of other Yankee stars.

As for the ASG stuff, it really shouldn't go on his character for not showing up considering that he's done it before pretty much every year. I don't really care about the reason, it just sounds like you're ripping him for the sake of ripping him.

I hate the Yankees too, I don't just make up stupid reasons to make fun of their players though.

i think it's cool that the sox have showed some respect for jeter. he's a classy guy. but at the same time' date=' i kind of miss the animosity towards the yankees that the players once had. pretty much before 04. i used to watch the sox/yanks games on the edge of my seat just waiting for something to blow up and start an argument. now jeter pats youk on the back at third? i get it, but i still like the classic sox/yanks brawls![/quote']

There's a lot of mutual respect between the players.

Just a bunch of rich guys havin' fun.:D

In that situation, you might want to root for someone's bomb vest to prematurely detonate.

I didn't look for reasons to rip him. My initial post said that I was glad to hear him getting ripped on the radio in NY for missing the All Star game. It makes me happy to hear him get ripped in NY after so many years that the media had his balls in their mouths. Hatred of the Yankees is not irrational. You are way off base with that.

Whatever, you pretty much just said your base for this is that he plays for the Yankees and admitted your bias, which is itself irrational. I think when you said that you hate everything in pinstripes, etc. this discussion was over.

Yup' date=' its too damn bad he couldn't stay healthy[/quote']

Imagine what he would've done if he could've stayed on the field. He was a better hitter and fielder. Plus his head was nowhere near as huge.

IMO the whole Jeter is classy thing is phony, and I hate all Yankees, including Jeter. There are no issues for discussion. There's nothing to dispute. I just stated my opinion, which can neither be proved or disproved.
