Congrats! for all the american soccer fans.

BTW Mexico just won the FIFA U-17 World Cup at Estadio Azteca. The country is literally paralyzed for this Championship.

it almost looks like they don't want us to win.

Did you watch the World Cup last year? It's pretty clear FIFA is going to go all out in both men's and women's to make sure the US doesn't get a fair shake. It's pathetic how the officials just happen to consistently miss calls against us time and time again in these World Cup matches.

Compared to most countries, the US soccer team isn't that good. Soccer isn't our main sport.

Since USA sucks at soccer every win becomes an "we did the impossible". Annoying really because woman soccer sucks. They got lucky against Brazil. Even the mens soccer team got lucky last world cup with Landon Donovans last second goal. They're only in the semifinals lol.

So this means what, that the US when it pulls all its overseas soccer stars back home (yes, such a thing does exist) can't put together a competitive side? We're not where American fans like to be in international sports competitions (clear #1A front and center and well ahead of the pack) but we can put together competent squads that are worth watching.

The American talent pool in soccer is deepening, thanks in part to MLS. It's not going to turn soccer into a major US sport anytime soon, but you can make a living playing soccer in America now, and that ought to bear fruit eventually, especially in the college sports environment.

I'm not a big soccer fan myself, I don't know the X's and O's and frankly I vastly prefer hockey. But when nationalism is at stake it really shouldn't be that hard to set aside your prejudices and root for the red, white and blue.

Meh, doesn't matter. In the end, you can deign to get off your high horse and root for Team USA or you can not choose to do so. Your call.

I'm saying that we are better at basketball, baseball and football. I agree that are soccer program is getting better.
