I'm sure McDonald will get get credit for this, but that wasn't a good throw. Some people just think any throw that gets the runner out is a great play. This was no different then when Gardner made a throw up the line and the runner was still out by a mile on the ball that went between Pena's legs the other day and Yankees fans were claiming he saved the game.

He was safe, but don't feel too bad about it. God knows we've gotten more than our fare share of bad calls against us the last couple of years.

Looked pretty good to me. That was a bullet that hit hit Tek square in the glove.

Yeah the throw didn't take Tek up or down the line at all, he was able to stay in position to block the plate.

Tek did a great job to block the plate, but that tag seemed abnormally late. Oh well, we won!

Really? It was high and up the line, watch the replay. He had to reach across his body to make the tag.

Looked good enough on the replay' date=' a much worse throw could've been made.[/quote']

I wasn't saying it was a terrible throw. I'm saying it wasn't an above average play.

I don't see Crawford, Ellsbury, or JD making that play. Dmac made a strong throw right on target. Sure, he could have placed it in a 1 foot target in the perfect spot, but be realistic, that RARELY ever happens. A quick (set up), strong throw to the general target (within easy reaching range) is above average. It's a lot harder than you think. Give credit were it's due.

He made the throw from very shallow left and left field and Varitek who was standing out in front of the plate still had to reach up the line for it. I think most of our outfielders would have been able to make that throw. If it was good throw, Varitek would have tagged the runner before they had slid past home plate.

Yaz chases him down from left field and tags him out before he reaches the plate.
