I'll eat crow all day long if it means a player I thought was done turned it around. Salty, tell Beckett and Papelbon I said hello:lol:

With the lack of catching talent around baseball, I'm impressed Epstein took the chance on Saltalamacchia. As happy as I was with Victor Martinez, I am happy with the direction the Sox decided to go with the the young, inexpensive, and potentially productive Saltalamacchia.

I couldn't agree more! Early in the season I was missing Victor, but early seasons woes are past and erroneous now. Salty is growing on me. I like the young inexpensive (as you said) talent the Sox picked up. Also, the 6-syllable last name is sweet.

You were part of the Papelbon was done crowd?

I lead that crowd. And for anyone who is interested, Crow is served best with wild rice. Trust me, I've eaten a lot of it this year over Papelbon.

I wonder if that is a syllable record. I remember the late, great columnist Jim Murray writing tongue in cheek (as he always did) that the Red Sox needed to rid themselves of one syllable Joe Foy because he didn't fit in with Yastrzemski, Conigliaro, Petrocelli, etc.

Saltalamacchia was not even born in those days, but he brings back memories.

Btw, I was just e-mailing my 30-year-old son about the Bruins and the parade. I feel very fortunate to have been around for Bobby Orr and the big, bad Bruins of the late 1960s and early 1970s. I really feel fortunate to have been there for Yaz and the Cardiac Kids of 1970s. They didn't give birth to my sport passions, but they certainly cemented those passions..

Did we really have to open up another thread about the catcher position when there are already a number of them? Is searching for other threads created about this topic so hard?

(sucks when people criticize how you open a thread, or reply to an old one doesnt it?.....kinda lame)

With the month of June practically complete, Salty's line for the month:

.347/.418/.571

It just means that over the last couple weeks he's sustained the run, but that's still good news.

Are you even putting any effort into this?

I mean really. Trying to prove J.D Drew is better by using someone who's statistics are bogged down by one terrible month. Seriously, the only stat in that line that Drew has better is OBP. Not to mention the fact that J.D Drew has been abysmal THE ENTIRE SEASON SO FAR while CC sucked FOR THE FIRST FEW WEEKS OF THE SEASON. The more and more you do this the more pathetic and laughable it gets. But you don't realize this because OH MY GOD THAT ON BASE PERCENTAGE IS STAGGERING JUST LOOK AT IT, IT'S GODLY.

Seriously man, hang it up. Any other year you have an argument, but Drew is playing like a piece of s*** right now.

I would just like to point out that I was part of the group that stuck by Salty the whole time' date=' not to brag or anything. :D[/quote']

So was I. But only really because I knew there was no one else out there who could do any better. Stick with the young talent, hopefully it comes around. There are many worse things that could happen than having your catcher hit .225 the whole season.

Funny how no one knocks his defense now that he is hitting a little and the team isn't so terrible.

His defense isn't bad, actually, By all the numbers I've seen he's average at worst.

OMFG

I'm just saying that for all the people that bitch about Drew , he's not the only one sucking for this team thus far this year

And open you're eyes , CC has not only sucked the first few weeks of the season.

CC last 19 Games

I don't care how much you like Drew comparing him to Crawford is ridiculous.

Dude I know Drew is sucking , I'm just saying that Crawford has also sucked and you cant deny that as the numbers proves it
