YankeesDraft K. Levine-Flandrup

#Yankees 2nd round #mlbdraft pick Sam Stafford was also in town and is in the physical process (pitchers always take longer).

YankeesDraft K. Levine-Flandrup

The super intriguing 13th round #mlbdraft pick Justin James has signed with the #Yankees after taking his physical in Tampa today.

Good news on James! Glad he got done, now lets see him jump right into some action.

Zach Wilson must of been signed, he's been playing for SI Yankees. Also Duran has two hits so far today and his first homerun!

Bubba Jones signed. Hayden Sharp has agreed to sign but hasnt passed the physical yet. Sam Stafford agreed to a number, but apparently there are some concerns on the physical. Stay tuned

Yankees are making a push with Rathjen. He's a surefire 1st round talent who blew out his ACL and was selected in the 44th round this yr. Apparently his medicals look good after his surgery and the Yankees are making a good run at him. Hope we get him

The more I read, the less likely it sounds that Rathjen will sign. From the sounds of it, his medicals are looking good and he seems to be on track to recover well, but he hasnt done anything baseball related and wants a lot of money. It doesnt sound like the Yanks are going to meet his number, although they might come close and see if he bites. I'd look at this kid like a Brackman from a few yrs ago, except his issue is knee related and he will cost less

Yankees have made no recent contact with Rathjen' date=' he sounds like he's a lock to return to school.[/quote']

Rathjen is a 100% lock to return to Rice, the Yankees made no offer and intend to make no offer apparently. Not sure why, but so be it

Greg Bird and Josh Brebbia signed. Bird is a good get, HS kid listed at catcher with light tower power. Probably profiles as a 1b in the future. Brebbia is a righty with fringe stuff who the Yanks were gonna follow in the Cape before getting an offer. I guess he showed improvement on his stuff, because they offered him a nice bonus.

I know nothing about Bird but I see he got a million+ bonus... Williams was out lone guy to do that last year. Does Bird have a comp, poor mans wil myers?

Last 2 in play are Hebert and Maher. Camarena signed for $335K and looks to be a very strong sign as a lefty SP. Hebert is a big lefty with 90+velo and Maher is a very tall righty with a projectable frame who can hit low 90s already. Sounds like we're out on everyone else. But this has been a very solid draft, IMO

Last yr we focused up the middle with Culver, Gumbs, Williams, Tamarez, etc in the draft and the INTL area. This yr, we focus on pitching and corners with Jones, Bird, Duran, Bichette, Cote, Hebert, Camarena, Maher, et al. The 2010 draft is starting to look really good in the short season leagues and these kids have some serious potential impact from the 2011 draft. This is going to be a good collection of talent to inject into the system

I'm excited about finally having bats in the system. Bird, Cave, Bichette and Duran look very interesting.

Dont forget Bubba Jones and Justin James. We nabbed a bunch of high upside bats and added a lot of much needed power.

Best athlete of the class- Cave

Biggest power- Bird/Jones

Best overall hitter- Bichette

Best "now" pitcher- Montgomery

Biggest project- Sharpe/Maher

We got power, speed, arms, size, projectability, all you could want when you dont pick until the 50th spot or so.
