The team has been flat from pitch #1 in game 1. A manager needs to not only make the right in game decisions' date=' but he also needs to get the most out of his players. Girardi does neither. With Tito, he's a players manager, but also you see that his players typically play up to their potential. Girardi gets a lineup full of all-stars and cannot generate anything. 6 consecutive losses vs Boston at home is inexcuseable. Regardless, good night y'all. If this season ends with Girardi being fired, then it might be worth it in the end.[/quote']

I'm gonna tell you, what began wrong with the yankees this season from my perspective... they were so focus in get Lee, that when they realized he was out of their hands, they didn't have time to push for another decent starter...even more, i could bet they didn't consider a plan 'B" because they were so damn sure in get him. If you see your rotation, besides CC, no one else including Burnett, are solid bets for a team of this hierarchy, and don't even make me talk about your BP. And this my friend, isn't JG's fault but FO's for sure

This lineup will bear in their shoulders this team till the end of the season if they don't make an interesting move(s) before the trade deadline.

That was absolutely amazing. After the 6th inning, I headed to bed and watched the game on my phone. The wife was asleep, so I couldn't go nuts during the bottom of the 7th, but after Ortiz got his 1st hit of the 7th (I love that you have to specify), I thought "This is going to be a big inning", but I never would have thought 7 runs big.

Absolutely huge win for us right there. Lets hope our team isn't exhausted and flat tonight. Unlike last time we had a really late game when Lackey went home early to prep for the next game, and then got blown up by the Angels, maybe Buchholz got some good rest and will shut down the Jays tonight.

The bullpen was expertly constructed. The fact that they had the lowest ERA in the AL through 2 months while missing one of the best relievers in the game is absurd. I dont fault them there. In retrospect, I thought Lee would chase the most dollars and go to NY. Now that we have seen that isnt the case, I think we should have been in on Haren. Regardless, there will be deals, but I would almost rather we hold pat, bring up some rooks, see what they can do and reload in the offseason

The Yankees are in trouble with their pitching. Hughes' absence has hurt. If he can't come back strong, they will be begging for starting pitching soon.

I prefer Girardi over Francona... seriously' date=' what else could he do, in this one? is not his fault that his key pitching staff is injured.[/quote']

Girardi is an excellent manager. Ex-catchers often make good managers. Birdie Tebbetts.

Wasn't Stengel a catcher? Maybe an outfielder. Tek should make a good manager.

Girardi was good in Miami, too. But he had a conflict with the owner and got fired. The Yankees took advantage of that.

I think he's a better game manager than Tito--more by the book. But Tito is a people charmer with all that simple talk.

I agree there. Losing out on Lee and Pettitte packing it up really left us in the lurch. Colon and Garcia have been nice surprises, but we couldnt handle losing any of our pitchers. And when our #2 goes down, that essentially paralyzes us

Just read the gamethread. I was MIA last night, but watched the entire game. Very enjoyable game thread. It would not have been the same without Jacko. He was a good sport, even though he was a bit overboard about the eye for an eye stuff. For those of you who don't live in the NY area, I can tell you that Jacko's position is reflective of the thirst for blood and revenge that has been all over the media since Tuesday night. It has been a pattern for quite some time in NY that when the Sox start dominating them that Yankee Universe starts screaming about hitting our guys. It's not always a tit for tat situation. In the past they have screamed to throw at Papi's or Manny's legs to move them off the plate and "make them uncomfortable". They hate losing and they are always willing to resort to dirty bullying tactics to turn things around. Every sports news outlet has been saying the same thing for 3 days- not just the sensationalistic shock sports jock guys. Everyone has been screaming to hit Ortiz. He might as well have had a target on his back. CC had no choice. Thankfully, he did it the right way. Papi "took it like a man" (like he advised Girardi to do) and he let his bat do the talking getting two hits in the 7th off the two best Yankee pitchers other than Mo. For those of you who have in the past talked about letting Ortiz go after the season, eat s*** and die. Back to the Yankee fans and their blood thirst. They were getting worked up all week long. I thought it was a disgrace that so many Yankee fans cheered when Ortiz got hit- totally classless.

As for Girardi, he's a punk and Jacko is right that he is a terrible manager. I am the first to question Tito's game moves, but Girardi maybe even worse. Terry at least is a very good manager with regard to clubhouse issues and personalities. Girardi is not, and it was ridiculous that he made an issue of the bat flip on Tuesday. His explanation was that he had " a young kid on the mound"? Are you f***ing kidding! Was he afraid that he would be emotionally scarred. I was at the game. Everyone was watching the ball. No one even noticed the bat flip. Noesi said that he didn't see it. Girardi showed himself to be a punk by going into the gutter on that issue. Torre never would have gone there. Papi had the perfect response by telling Joe G to take it like a man. He can't, cause he's a punk.

I hope all you youngins appreciate what you saw this week. Old codgers lile me never saw 6 wins in a row at Yankee Stadium. My deceased Dad, born in 1918 never saw that. Don't take it for granted. It's a huge thing. Go Sawx!!!

I can only speak for myself, but I can tell you right now - This is not going unnoticed or underappreciated. It's a great day for the Red Sox.

What's funny is that if you take out the 26 games where the Red Sox lost' date=' the Red Sox are 35-0 this season going into today. ;)[/quote']

What? Isn't any team undefeated if you remove their losses? I don't get it.

P.S. -- Red Sox = Best team in MLB right now, regardless of win %, we are the best... :)

Hell yeah man. I immediately went on facebook and posted the Red Sox sweeping the Yankees picture(your old avatar) and tagged every Yankees fan I can think of. I even made a post saying "The Boston Red Sox are your daddy bitches".

Two consecutive sweeps at the stadium...it's still almost surreal.

And what Big Papi demonstrated last night was something for you younger guys to pick up on:

Revenge is a dish best served cold!

Had he charged the mound he wouldn't have been around in the 7th to let his bat do the talking.

Cervelli is a AA player catching.

Girardi loves the no talent little psycho with an attitude, because he reminds him of himself. Having this no talent little psychopath on the major league team tells me two things:

1. Girardi must have a deep abiding grudge against Posada to decree in Spring Training that Jorge cannot go near the catching equipment.

2. Montero must be a god awful defensive catcher. Making him into an adequate major league catcher must be as big a project as making Wily Month Pena into a ballerina.

This.

Now that it's June, and minor league call ups no longer affect arbitration, and you get a free year out of them, something must be wrong with Montero for him not to be up in Cervelli's place. I can think of 3 scenarios.

1. Montero isn't the bat that the Yankees have proclaimed, and they're trying to hide that a bit to retain value at the trading deadline.

2. Montero's defensive skills are so absolutely horrid that even the increase in offensive production over Cervelli would be a waste because of the defensive drop off. And that's horrible, considering Cervelli just threw 3 balls in the CF.

3. They want Montero to be starting everyday, which he wouldn't do in the MLB because of players like Jeter, Posada, and A-Rod needing regular days off because of age, resulting in the need for a guy like Nunez to play their positions while they DH.

I'm not sure which of the 3 scenarios is in play, but regardless, none of them are good.

well, when i see your calendar, what did you faced on April and May? mostly under .500 teams at that time so, could be a mirage, but again, that is my perspective for what i've seen mainly against Boston.

On the other hand, who do you think they will push for, before the trade deadline (Zambrano, is not happy with the Cubs and the FO neither lately with him)?
