They'll win the next two. Britton has been pitching very well this season and Buchholz is just taking a little longer to pull it together plus he doesn't fare too well with Varitek catching, it's just 1 loss. We're still smoking hot and look for Josh to f*** s*** up tonight.

They will bring the bats tonight and for the record, Buchholz will get out of this rut within the next few starts. Mark my words.

Yup, I agree. I didn't want to be a pessimist last night, but going up against a rookie LHP worried me. We always struggle against rookie pitchers, and we're very lefty heavy. Pair that with Buch's recent struggles and you've got a recipe for a loss.

Tonight, though, things are different. Our line up hits .316 off of Guthrie. Guthrie is 1-7 with a 4.94 ERA vs BOS, including an 0-2, 5.71 ERA mark in 2010. He's a RHP who should get lit up. Outside of Varitek, Drew has had the least success against Guthrie, and he has a career mark of .296. Ellsbury is a .393 hitter, and Crawford hits .366. Lets start clickin!!!

At least we didn't give up an 8th inning bomb and then see their RF make two webgem catches in the 9th with RISP to lose like the Yankees :dunno:

I don't think it is so much that this team is weak against lefties... but more so that this team's RH platoon options have been struggling big time. Mcdonald, Salty, and Cameron have done almost nothing all season offensively. I think this team definitely is expecting much more from them as the season continues, especially Cameron, who really should be killing LHP.

It's a sad day when I start thinking about our pitching staff, and somehow I come to the conclusion that I have more confidence in DiceK and Lackey than I do in Buchholz right now.

I also think that with the way Buchholz was struggling, and the ballpark we were in, and how good the Orioles lineup looks on paper, that we were lucky to get 6.2 innings and only 4ER from Buchholz.

Absolutely. The O's were 1-6 with RISP and it was just that dinky grounder off of 1st base. He got lucky as hell. 12 hits and 2 BB = 14 baserunners through 6.2 IP? Could have been much, much worse, especially when Oki came in and got that final out in the 7th.

I really want this team to be at least .500 by the end of April. They'd have to go 3-1. Let's do it!

I wouldn't be shocked if they won out to be honest. Based on who we have going in the next 4 days and the offense that we will face this weekend? Wouldn't surprise me one bit.

On the subject of our righty platoon guys. I was remembering a segment Rosenthal did for the MLB network talking about Mark Derosa's status as somewhat of an odd-man out in San Fran. He can play the outfield a bit If I remember correctly and he shouldn't be too expensive to pry away from the Giants.

Last year, we got shut out 4 times in 162 games.

This year, we've been shut out 2 times in 22 games.

Last year, we scored 0 or 1 run in 17 of 162 games, or 10.5% of the games played.

This year, we've scored 0 or 1 run in 5 of 22 games, or 23% of the games played.

WTF. I thought we were supposed to have a good offense. Our O look like complete dogshit.

Tips for our boys:

Ellsbury - Continue.

Pedroia - Continue.

Gonzo - Hit bombs. We pay you too much to be a Casey Kotchman. Yeah I said it.

Youk - For God's sake. Curveballs break down. If you see the rotation and it's at your knees, take the pitch.

Ortiz - Put some loft on the ball. Need more bombs.

Drew - Ask to be PH for when there are RISP.

Lowrie - Are you busy on Saturday night?

Crawford - Hit. Period. Just Hit.

Varitek - If Beckett and DiceK keep throwing like they are, I don't care if you bring wood to the plate.

I hope they get the game in, I live about 30 minutes from Baltimore and the weather looks really ugly, its supposed to be severe thunderstorms all night tonight.

WHERE THE BLOODY HELL IS REMY?? Our mojo is shot!

I hope he's fine, I could hear him coughing pretty hard and nasty in the background toward the end of last night's game
