GUYS! Games like this happen!

What we should be frustrated about is a 6 game losing streak to start the season, not a 1-0 nailbiter against a good pitcher on a west coast swing.

Lackey looked great, Anderson looked great. Things are okay.

Stop being realistic! :D

Game over. This is been a highly frustrating game. Why are late night games in Oakland like this? Our offense seems to always fall flat here. Lackey pitched a nice game, and there is nothing to show for.

We could have had a 4 game winning streak, we could've gone out of this thinking about how well Lackey pitched. But instead we are on the verge of getting shut out, this is fun

What might that be' date=' be a soft hitting catcher with no defensive skills? Because if that's the case then it's going perfectly[/quote']

In this case it was "pretend to not be able to field an easy play so it bounces away just far enough to coax the runner off so he and I can be in a footrace to home plate, which I will win and tag him out valiantly, so that my teammates can see me as a hero and I will be carried around on the shoulders of my teammates, most notably John Lackey, who will be crying because he's so happy with my performance."

that's the Saltalamasterplan.

But did they have fun playing the game? Did they? That's the most important thing. That they have fun.

I love how everyone is so down on Okajima, let's not forget that he had 3 solid seasons with the Sox 07-09, before farting a lemon out last season. Who knows, he could turn it around this season.

I hate when I fart and a lemon comes out.

The thing that worries me about Okajima is that his success is largely dependent upon his funky delivery and deception. Once you've been around the block a few times, you lose some of that, as guys aren't at their first rodeo when they step into the box against him. At that point, his stuff is not terribly difficult to handle.

Your right about 07 and 08 but he was pretty poor in 09 and really bad and old last season blew too many games

This is a really good point, but I also feel like he lost his location last season. If he can locate again he may not be the dominant pitcher like in 07, but he could be solid. I also could be wrong, maybe they just figured him out.

Brian Fuentes career vs. BOS:

0-1, 6.75 ERA. 6.2 IP. 2.700 WHIP. Sox batters are .355/.487/.484/.971 against him.

Is it predictive? No. Will I shut down the ol' TV and computer, and go to bed before watching? No.
