Should Example1 keep doing gamethreads? I think I should.

John Lackey vs. Brett Anderson

Lackey career vs. Oakland:

17-5, 2.90 ERA, 151 K/202 IP

Anderson career vs. Boston:

3-1, 2.61, 28K/31 IP

I can't use B-R.com to look at comparable starts for bad teams... that's a good thing, but it ends my Optimism Thread trend. Sigh. Oh well. Enjoy the game.

Go Sox!

WIN!

I'll be watching , i hate west coast game's

West coast games are the worst. Damn school.

Not if you live in Oregon! ;)

For those who don't live here, the West Coast is the best sports viewing time zone there is. College Football games starting at 9am. Weekend baseball starting at 10 or 10:30am. Red Sox games come on at 4pm--which means that I can DVR them, get home by 5 or 5:30, fast forward through commercials and finish the game live. It's great.

Anytime I go back to the East coast I feel like it is such a chore to wait until 7pm for a game to start. Easily spoiled, I suppose.

Go Sox.

Au contraire, Hawaii is the best sports viewing time zone....if you are a morning person like I am. You wake up to football just starting on the weekends, and baseball games start just after lunch. No interference with your nightlife.

Anyway. Toronto, Oakland, whoever.....when this team is clicking, they can take 'em all down. Keep clicking.

I wish I was a morning person. My daughter has forced me to be more of one, but I'm still not naturally inclined to get up early. Hence my preference for the Pacific zone.

Back in the "good old days" I remember having to set the alarm to watch the Sox game at 10 or 11, which was great. Of cousre, I joke. Having a kid is the greatest thing ever. I think you're a parent and am pretty sure that you agree with that sentiment.

Hawaii does have the added benefit of being... well, Hawaii. That beats Oregon in many respects.

I'm a morning person by conditioning. When many of my friends were taking afternoon classes in college right out of high school, I was getting up at 5:00 am to battle DC traffic and make it to my construction job on time. Then I was waking up at 5:00 am for PT in the Marines. Then I was waking up at 6:00 am to get done with class in college in time to go to my afternoon/evening job. Then I was waking up at 6:00 am to change diapers. Then I was waking up at 5:00 am again for my construction job after college.

I went out with some friends the other night, got home a 1:00, stayed up and watched a little TV until 3:00 then......got up a 6:30 and couldn't sleep any longer. My biological clock is set.

Forget that eastern time is perfect. Get out of school at 3 which gives me about 4 hours to do what I please. Most of the time it's homework, talksox, and sleep. Batting cages every once in a blue moon. Game at 7 ends around 10ish. Have about a good 30 minutes then hit the bed. Perfect schedule.

Yeah. Even with central time, I hate west coast trips. I get to work at 6:30 every morning, so when the game starts at 9 pm my time, it doesn't get over until 12:30 or 1 am, and I'm down to 5 hours of sleep.

Fortunately, I'm out of work by 3:00 every day, so I can catch up on sleep then. Still, though. It's tough to beat dinner and Red Sox baseball.

That 4 hours to do what you please is not exclusive to EST. It just comes after the game for others.

hah,

there's a reason sox games are at 7 EST on east coast. people like me:

630 wake up, commute to work

8 work

5 commute home

6 dinner

7 red sox

10 get ready for bed/ mess around on internet/ read

11 sleep

repeat....

I'm a fan of mountain time. Most of the games start right as I'm settling in after work, and even the west coast games are not unreasonably late. I can typically catch the whole thing and still be in bed by 11-11:30.

Got to expect Varitek catching today. Night game followed by day game, Buchholz throwing tomorrow, and Beckett pitching on Thursday, so you know Tek will be catching on Thursday.

Great day for Lackey to make a rebound start and get some momentum; facing a former division rival that he's done well against and riding a 3 game winning streak. Win!

Oh, and please play Jebediah.

No joke. Not to mention he's had to face two of the most potent offenses at the time in the AL in his first two games.

Runs per game as of the game in which Lackey faced them:

Rangers - 8.67 Runs per Game (during entire series vs Red Sox)

Yankees - 5.83 Runs per Game

A's - 3.63 runs per game, 3.71 runs per game at home.

Obviously it's no excuse for how Lackey threw, but maybe going up against an offense that is hitting .236/.300/.357 will give him the boost he needs to get back into the groove.

Not to mention Lester - Beckett - DiceK combined to throw 20 IP of 0.90 ERA baseball, hopefully that will give Lackey a little kick in the ass.

Finally, Lackey's next 4 starts are @OAK, @LAA, vs SEA, and vs LAA. Taking into account the location of the games, last year, Lackey went 3-1 with a 3.22 ERA in those same situations.

f*** class. I'm staying up and watching the whole f***in' thing. It is past my bed time' date=' though.[/quote']

Kind of how I feel at the moment. Luckily I can still stream from my ipod when I go to bed. Only downside is I can't post in the gamethread at the same time. For me, interacting with other Sox fans while watching the game is much more fun.

All this Lackey criticism is overblown.

1) After taking a few months to adjust to this new environment in 2010, he pitched to career averages after the All-Star Break. And despite some popular opinion, he didn't face pushover teams, he pitched against NYY, Tampa, Texas and LA during that stretch.

2) He has a 5.00+ career ERA in April. Yeah, Lester isn't the only one who struggles early. If you've seen him pitch in 2011, you can tell he put a lot of work in this offseason to get into good shape.

3) He's a good pitcher. He's had two bad starts. Get over it.

Hope the Sox win tonight, won't watch most of the game.

I can't stay up' date=' I have to work a night game tonight, and then I have to work a 10am game tomorrow morning. Seriously, who the f*** has a AA game at 10am?!?![/quote']

Your team does ;)

I love West Coast games...for obvious reasons. Got tickets to all four games this weekend which is Boston's only visit to Anaheim this year. Now, that really sucks!

Exactly my thoughts. I wish I could get MLBtv but I just don't wanna pay. I watch the games on this streaming site if I'm not around a TV.

I kind of lucked out on this, having them all happen over school vacation.

Either way I would of watched, I love west coast games, it's so fun to stay up watching the Sox until like 1-2 AM.
