If we're going by personality i'd say Clemens and Schilling got him beat. Jay Payton too

Clemens stopped being a Red Sox player long before I really got into baseball, so I don't know how bad he was when he was with Boston.

As for Schilling...well, success forgives a lot.

Has to be Buckner in the infamous 80s Mets series. Though I haven't forgiven Lee for throwing that loopy meatball to Perez and costing the Sox the Series in '75. The most a**hole pitch I've ever seen in a big situation. Typical Lee, who had pitched a great game to that point.

One more--same World Series as Buckner, against the Mets. McNamara taking out Clemens with a 3-2 lead in the 8th, and Clemens dominant. That rookie closer Schiraldi blew the game and the series. And McNamara got himself fired for it in the spring by Jean Yawkey, who was furious. Imagine taking out a dominant pitcher in that situation for a rookie. A case of overmanaging. He also wrecked Schiraldi's career.

All you young guys are spoiled by the Francona era Red Sox. It used to be a lot worse.

On Everett: His career was wrecked by himself, his manager Jimy Williams and the Boston media.

Schill was cocksure, but he backed it up on the field, and had his best moments of all in the playoffs, which Clemens never did for us.

Schilling's last pitch for us was in a winning effort bringing the second of two rings he brought to Boston, and in both cases he was playing through some serious health problems to get us there (the ankle in 2004, a messed up shoulder in 2007). That immediately rates him far, far above Rajah on the backs-it-up-on-the-field-o-meter. If Rajah had had similar injuries to what Schilling had had in either postseason, there isn't the slightest glimmer of a doubt in my mind he would not have even pitched.

Lugo and J.D. Drew

Drew is an okay outfielder, but he always strikes out looking. He doesn't put out a lot of effort, and he is really overpayed.

Ryan Kalish. I thought his slide into a potenially great ball player - Carlos Santana was intentional and dirty.

I didn't think it was intentional.

OK. I'm probably wrong but it seemed that he could have gone to the outside to avoid the potential tag.

I give Kalish the benefit of the doubt since it happened so fast.

I happened to see Pete Rose barrel into Ray Fosse in the All Star game and Fosse was never the same catcher after that.

I go with Lugo definitely...but that's just because he wasn't able to juice once he got to Boston...... however, the sadder part is that the list of 'slugs' on the present team is getting longer every day.......at least five guys on this squad who should be in the minors at this point......

I remember a few years ago, when Tavarez was starting for the Sox, he seemed to get matched up with the aces every time out. Halladay, Santana, etc. I also remember him actually keeping the Sox in those games, including a 2-0 or 2-1 (if I recall) loss to Santana and the Twinkies.

He sucked, but he had his moments.

I'd rather have him starting and rolling the ball to first like people at the bowling alley on seniors night, pointing to first whenever the infielders gather up a routine grounder, and generally being insane, than have Dice-K out there right now.

Besides, remember when he decked Joey Gathright in Spring Training?
