BTW' date=' ESPN radio mentioned that Jesus Montero and Ramiro Pena are at Yankee Stadium tonight. Martin is out again with a back issue and the Yanks are pretty sure that Jeter will need the DL. Why they dont just DL them both is beyond me. Nunez can handle SS if given regular PT and Martin has been useless for the past month plus, and especially useless when he tried to play through the back pain. Neither of them are hitting well right now, some rest might benefit them both. The only downside for Martin is that he might become Wally Pipp. If Montero comes up and smashes the ball, Martin may never see the field with regularity again[/quote']. . . Or maybe Cervelli will catch most of the games and you can enjoy his nightly airmailing of throws to CF.

RSFFL Don't you think the red sox will win it all this year? Isn't that a homer? You think the Pats will win it all this year too? Wouldn't that be a homer?

Do I want them to win? Of course I do and I expect you to do the same. However we have the team to go all the way you don't, see how it works? You act like the Guardians are going to go somewhere this year. What's more realistic the Red Sox going to the playoffs or the Guardians. Think about that reaaaaaaaally slow then let me know what you think. I'm not a Patriots fan either. I know you're trying to be optimistic but sometimes you need to just be realistic.

There's a difference between who you think will win and who you want to win. Gun to my head, family on the line, I think the Sox and Phils match up in the WS. But I would love to see the Yankees win it obviously

Who will be taking Fatolos Calzones spot in the rotation?

Looking right now like Brian Gordon, who they actually signed today. Career minor leaguer, with just a handful of big league innings.

He hasn't been that bad though?

He's a sinker baller with mediocre control and an inability to miss bats. His 2011 ERA is below average, and you'll almost never see him pitch well against a team with any sort of offense. Once Colon and Hughes return, it's back to the minors for Ivan.

Hard to say with him only just starting his minor league rebab stint, but my guess would be a little less than a month away.

Gordon reminds me of Darrell Rasner. Deep arsenal of average to below average pitches and completely dependent on command. Today, he's actually commanded well sans the 2 HBPs. Texas has gotten 6 hits, but they havent been able to square any of them up and hit them hard. Most of their hits have been off off-speed pitches out of the zone that they are flipping over 2b or 3b. Regardless, he seems like a good guy as a fill-in, but he isnt in the Yankees future, IMO

Its amazing how the damn yankees beat everybody else. The rangers have looked awful. They would be world beaters against the red sox. They would play the red sox tough.

Solid first game for Gordon. Got into trouble in the 5th and managed to keep it relatively under control' date=' though the HBP hurt.[/quote']

His stuff is mediocre, but he wasnt afraid to throw any of his pitches and he seemed to be able to locate them at times. His FB seemed to have a cut to it as nobody could square it up

Cory Wade was a nice find. Glad to have him! Allso good luck to Brian Gordon

Wade has been a pleasant surprise. If he keeps this up, he could pitch a decent amount of high leverage innings, as the spot for third reliever on the depth chart is wide open.
