I too would like to know the answer to this. Especially since he hopes the Sox don't make the playoffs because we don't "deserve" it. But he claims he's been a fan longer than me so that doesn't make him the pink hat he's making himself out to be.

Dude stop ridiculing yourself.

I still believe the Sox aren't playing good at all and so dont deserve to be in the playoffs.

But I still cheer for them because Red Sox are my team. Do I think we deserve to be in? Hell no. Am I a fan of the Sox? yep.

Learn to distinguish the two apart.

Hey, nothing wrong with being a pink hat. If you like the Red Sox I like you, you don't you suck(except y228).

When wanting your team to lose and have the team running against us make the playoffs. That's being a true fan? If anyone here is making a fool out of themselves it's you. Sorry I didn't know that was what being a fan was all about.

f*** the Red Sox! Go Yankees! The Sox need to lose for another 80 years cause we suck!

Some of the stupidest arguments I have read on this forum are the ones where someones fandom gets challenged. What is the sense of that? Are people looking to kick him out of some exclusive club. In the past on more than one ocassion, I was accused of being a Yankee fan or I was told to root for the Yankees, because I criticized the Sox. Like the current argument, those arguments were absurd.

How old are you?

Me wanting the Sox to lose wasn't about my personal want to see this team suffer. It was so they learn a lesson. Mainly Francona and his questionable managerial ways.

If this team loses, then they will have to make big changes. If they were to make it they are less susceptible to make changes.

That's why most times bad things need to happen to make changes.

We as a whole nation become too comfortable with what we got. It is not until something awful happens that we spur into action.

Yep, this pretty much says it all.

100% agree with you.

Agree. Fandom is a personal thing, who's to say who's a bigger fan?

The Yankees are the true underdogs of the league. "Nobody gave us a shot"--Mariano Rivera.

You know that phrase is overused when the f***ing Yankees are using it.

Mo does say some stupid things, and I guess this could be seen as one of them. But if he's referring to their chances of winning the division, he does have a point. Basically everyone assumed it would be the Red Sox, including myself.

Meh, the Red Sox were a popular pick but the Yankees weren't counted out at all.

Also, the Rays are turning into chokers in their own right. They lost 2/3 to Baltimore and the first 3 to the Yanks. They should have at least tied it by now. Obviously nothing to the magnitude of the 2011 Red Sox suckfest.

If memory serves, very few people picked the Yankees to win the division. Here's an example.

And it's completely understandable. The Red Sox went into the season looking like a much better team ... especially after the two teams went in opposite directions during the offseason.

Point taken. I picked the Sox too, but I certainly didn't dismiss the Yankees.

Derek Jeter SS

Eduardo Nunez 2B

Mark Teixeira DH

Nick Swisher RF

Andruw Jones LF

Jesus Montero C

Jorge Posada 1B

Brandon Laird 3B

Greg Golson CF

Yankees are giving this game up. They should also have used Romine at DH and sat Tex.

I dont think Yankees are meaning to lose but they're not gonna make the effort to win this game either.

3 out of 4 is not bad. They did the Sox a great service.

Those lechons have to stop from Colon. He looks like he has type 2 diabetes. He has more chins than a chinese phonebook. He needs life support after every inning. he probably breathes like darth vader. Walking off the mound is like a marathon to him.

That's why when he pitched the other week against the Angels on 09/09 he went 7 innings and gave up 0 runs, right?
