CC was dominant. Not sure how he got left off the AS roster' date=' but so be it. Has the Cy Young winner ever been left off an all star game roster?[/quote']

I'm pretty sure Justin Verlander is going.

CC has been named to the American League All-Star team, replacing James Shields. Sabathia, however, will not travel to the game and he will be replaced by Alexi Ogando.

There's a policy that starters who pitch the day before the All-Star break are not allowed to pitch in the All-Star game. That's why Sabathia and many other equally deserving starters were not named.

Sabathia- 13-4 2.72ERA 1.16WHIP 145.2IP 126K

Verlander- 12-4 2.15ERA 0.87WHIP 151IP 147K

Beckett- 8-3 2.27ERA 0.95WHIP 111IP 94K

Weaver- 11-4 1.86ERA 0.91WHIP 140.1IP 120K

Shields- 8-7 2.33ERA 0.98WHIP 142.2IP 137K

Those are my top 5, not in that particular order. But CC has been rolling of late, having reeled off 21.2 scoreless innings and he's typically pretty dominant down the stretch. My guess is that by the end of the yr it will come down to these 5. And if CC keeps winning like he is, it will be tough to not give it to the guy from NY who wins 22-23 games and propels his team to the playoffs in the brutal AL East

As we saw last year wins dosent translate to CY

wins do have something to do with CY, last yr, though, Felix's peripherals werent even close to anybody elses. Right now, I think Verlander is the leader with Weaver and CC coming up on his heels. I dont think Shields has the stamina to pitch as deep into games as he's being asked for a full season and I dont think Beckett throws enough innings to take the award home.

CC is a dominant horse of a pitcher. He deserved to make the All Star team without a doubt, and he will be in Cy Young contention at seasons end.

I wonder just how much Afraud will be missed in the lineup.
I think they will go into a slump, unlike when Jeter was out. When Jeter was out, they played their best ball of the season.

A-Rod's been on the DL for a portion of each of the last 4 years. He's not MVP material anymore. I think this injury signals the beginning of the part of that contract where we all laugh hysterically at how much he's being paid for the production he gives, I can't see him being much more than a .280 hitter after this.
