Can Gonzalez lead the majors in home runs?

The thing I think we've learned about Gonzo is that he's a streaky HR hitter. I wouldn't be surprised to see him leave the yard 2-3 more times this week.

I will bet you anything you want that Gonzo hits more HR at Fenway this year than he did at Petco last year.

 

Not all lefties have the oppo field power that Gonzo has. He doesn't just have line drive power to the oppo field like a lot of LHH. He puts a good amount of loft on the ball, and that's going to translate to a large amount of HR.

 

A large amount? Sure. More than Petco? Don't honestly care. There's too many things that go into HR numbers for me to expect them to be predictable year by year. Besides, we all know homers aren't the only way a hitter chips in, I'm more interested in offensive consistency than I am in the long bomb.

Agreed. I was just referring to your comment that he probably won't hit more HR at Fenway than at PetCo, but it doesn't really matter.

 

Gonzo is hitting .347/.378/.627/1.005, 9 HR, 31 RBI in May. That's an outrageous month.

7 home runs in 54 more home games. I think it'll be easily manageable, especially now that we've seen the difference in his shoulder now that it is healthy and how it affects his power.

As good as AGod has been, his HR production has been somewhat disappointing.
